I am I being dim here, is that album not called Risa's Hen Party!! :Di.e. a women's get together before a wedding? If it was a nordic area, the nudity and ritual open air bathing would not be out of keeping.
This is what a 'weird pagan/witches ceromony' ritual really looks like, I found these on a Flikr album last year! |
LOL !
Had no idea what a "hen party" was before now... Thanks for the info... :) |
party..party.....nice ritual :)
|
there's not enough bush for them to be real pagans. i'm not 100% sure, but the beer bottle looks like the Finnish brand Karhu
|
wow.. i'm moving to Finland is casualy getting naked is part of daily life... :D
why do we live in such prudish and conservative countries? |

Yes in certain countries nudity is no big thing! Here in Spain it is now almost the fashion for younger couples to visit nudist beaches in pairs or groups and in Scandanavia they have been bathing naked together for centuries! Even in the UK (where 19th century morals screwed up everybody for years) now allows fully nude public protests. Maybe religious dogma (or lack of it) has something to do with it!!!! |
crazy!thanks, bothy'all
Funny how when somebody says "witches" or something kinda foreign it's easy to see "Risa Shen" Party.
Then when it's pointed out, it's difficult not to see Risa's Hen party. Thank you krash for the fun pictures, and thank you pedro for the reminder to keep on my toes! |
witches?
hens? i don't really care as long as the pics are fine ;-) |
It's obvious to me that the first set of pics /ceremony probably , definitely IS a witches' ceremony ( of some type ) ......
They are obviously doing / or casting some type of " spell " ( witches' parlance ) in order to grow that one chick's hair ....... If that IS the case , I " may " consult them ; in order to grow MY hair ::::: Rogaine with Minoxidil is just NOT doing the trick :( |
risashenparty - risa's hen party
It depends on what you mean by ritual... well, actually it is a ritual, though they are not witches. It's a centuries old bridal sauna ritual that's commonly used in Scandinavia. It's not so much spiritual, but just one of those fun things you get to do on your bachlorette's ("hen", "polterabend") party when you're a Scandinavian girl getting married, if you have friends who like to arrange the party for you.
Actually, sauna is the norm, the salt, flour and honey is something extra; the old bridal ritual that's supposed to give you prosperity (flour), stop the thirst for old boyfriends (salt) and good luck with babies (honey) rubbed on your skin. The only thing that is uncommon is somebody taking photos. |
The second set, from Flickr, looks like it could be a witches' rite of some kind. It appears to be BTW (British Traditional Wicca) from the 70's or 80's though, judging from the hair styles. The ritual nudity and robes otherwise would not be unusual at all. Many Wiccan groups do wear regular street clothes or full robes during ritual though; the nudity is hardly required. Many of our priests and priestesses -- how shall I say it? -- look best when covered. By the way, holding a beer bottle would not be all that unusual either in Wiccan rites. A good time overall.

Hahhaha, you've got it wrong..

IT IS AN OLD FINNISH TRADITION CALLED "THE BRIDE'S SAUNA"! THEY DO KIND OF AN INITATION THINGS - AS LIKE RUNNING AROUND SAUNA FOR SO MANY TIMES THAT THEY'VE GOT BOYFRIENDS AND SHOUT OUT LOUD THEIR NAMES AND SO ON.. THIS IS DEFINITELY WITCHCRAFT :D:D:D P.S. Sorry for the capslock. Just to make attention. |
