Naked Bike Ride 2008
 

Hi guys, whilst my other thread is still going strong, it is time to remind all you photographers and web sleuths about this weekends feast of public nudity in the UK.

Over Friday and Saturday about 2300 naked (or semi naked) people will ride bikes around three cities at the following times, there is never a better time to either record this on camera, or better still, get naked yourself!

By joining in the protest, you will help spread the message against both oil dependancy and high oil prices in general, feel bloody fantastic about being stark naked in public and all the naked young ladies will be very happy to pose for your camera and even pose alongside you!

Dare to Bare....or at least record those who dared!

Time: 3.30pm assembly (4.00pm departure)
Location: Park Place, grassed area to rear of National Museum and adjacent to University Main Building

Woman with boots again; also can anyone explain why the larger-size versions of the '07 Manchester pictures have smaller files with no apparent loss of quality (they're in spinneyhead's Flickr gallery of the event)? Thanks

As luck would have it, I came across the Manchester protesters getting ready and setting off on my way home from work this evening. There was a good bit of laughing and joking, it seemed to me, and a few people were taking pictures, though I didn't have my camera with me. The local news team were there also, and UK residents can watch the video here:

In terms of women, there were four or five really good-looking girls doing the ride, of which the girl in the green fur boots was one. The girl in the green cap from last years photos was there again, and is genuinely beautiful.

I'm actually going to London tomorrow to see a friend, and thought of doing the ride there, but sadly they've run out of bicycles. I'm pretty gutted about that actually - it looks a real laugh.

Don't tell me your expecting them to turn a blind eye.. there would be seriously something wrong if they weren't attracted to what was going on...and most of them have camera phones, so you'd imagine they'd to be welcomed if they want thier cause pushed.

I'm more concerned at the first pic with the sight of so many men who have shaved around thier family jewels.
What the fark is going on there ..is this the latest faze ??

Here comes the BIG ONE, London first shots......speed rather than quality, but full marks for getting them up that quick!

There's a code of conduct if you are a photographer. Its not written down anywhere, but it has rules similar to those at nude beaches. Respect the women. Keep a safe distance. Don't lear or appear to be ganging up, etc etc. Photographers are important at WNBR, but they must not cross that invisible line in the sand. Otherwise, as they say, the deals off.

I singled this pic out because it looked like at least one of those rules might be getting broken.

I said big, here is an overhead shot of this afternoon.....just wish I could have been there!!!

Going back to Klondike's remarks, the guys with the phone cameras are no different than just about everybody I rode past last week! Thousands of shots were taken, many as close as that (why anyone would want a photo of me is doubtful). What we had trouble with was guys with small video cams and compact digitals standing next to a group of girls getting painted and clicking away without asking.

We talked about it last week at the rides and decided that if the guy had a 'big one' (lens, that is), he was probably a pro and working for the press. If he looked 'out of place' (e.g. fully dressed and middle aged male) and tried to get a 'close up', he was a 'perv' (read that as girly talk for being a member here:eek:).

The secret is 'Just ask', if the answer is no, back off and take shots from a longer distance. Many girls I spoke to last week about this, says they knew they would end up being naked on the internet, but 'what the hell', they would just avoid looking for photos of WNBR's for a while!

That last set in particular is awesome, Pedro.

I'd like to ask again if everyone posting these pics can include in the description the location wherever possible. Thanks!

This next collection is London, only fully naked and 'quite attractive' females....

For this post, the catagory remains the same, but the venue is now CHICAGO!!!!

Shame you guys in the USA often ride at night, it plays havoc with the photography!:D:D

The unwritten code of conduct rules would only be known to you and other WNBR photographers.!
All i am saying is that you have to expect some onlookers, and i stress 'onlookers' who have never seen a naked girl, let alone an unpoliced gathering of naked riders riding down the middle of their domain(for want of a better word) to get thier camera phones and start snapping away...
How close they get is of course another story.
In the pic you mentioned, the lads appear well behaved whilst taking snaps from the side and behind from a good 2 to 3m distance away. There's certainly no ganging up.

anyway that's just my opinion :)

So far, "matinthehatt" has the most Chicago '08 up on Flickr. Here: Pedro's unicyclist in color with and without wheel; another more exuberant shot of one of Pedro's finds; 3 from Brazil (Sao Paolo, Klondike!)

In relation to the 'ask or not to ask; debate, I say fuck em. If they wanna walk around with their fannies hanging out then they are fair game to all the right honourable perverts at the bike ride.

Seriously, do a Flikr search, there are more, but most are blurred because of the bad lighting!

Views I liked of some London women Pedro and Klondike have already noted, and one new (I think! there've been so many in so short a time) one; also, a TV station in my town showed a (sadly, heavily-pixellated) clip of a ride yesterday in Boulder CO. They said there were 100 riders, but I've seen nowt yet on Flickr, AND, Pedro, it was IN THE DAYTIME! Keep searching, gang.
