Be the first to tell the class where this pic comes from.

As a clue, here is one reaction from an eye witness:

[QUOTE]This disgusting phony pornography.......has infiltrated one of the last bastions of reserved culture in New York. The people behind the..........are pathetic in their quest for media attention and deserve to lose patronage for this aberration to respectability [END QUOTE]

OH PU-LEASE...!! It doesn't look like such a bad time to me - you must own a store that rents tuxedos or something...

a few more pics to follow if you guess the correct answer

*BLEEEP!*

WRONG ANSWER.....

Maybe the pic was a lame attempt at an "artistic" blur....

Guess again - the winner will be rewarded with more pics (that are in focus this time but give away the answer which is why i can't post them yet)

Oh, I get it.

Somehow, blurry nudes never worked for me either. When my Fremont pics come out that way, I feel like a complete idiot, not an artist.

Is it the Free Arts NYC??
Which I don't believe is a class but an organization...although they may have classes, I don't know.

Fango 04-02-2008 12:56 AM

Is it Improveverywhere? Those guys who did the "time freeze" in Grand Central Station, and the mall musical? Have they turned to nudity now?

Other guesses:

- Part of a Spencer Tunick shoot?

- Some kind of PETA protest? They're always on a "quest for media attention"...

I have no idea what the location is, other than it appears to be a restaurant, if that was what you were asking.

Fango, you gave me three answers. One of them is right.

Thats all I'm going to say.....:)

BTW - Am I the only one that watched the Rick Roll vid all the way to the end.....?

I was waiting for an oops from one of those Olivia Newton John types.

If I had to narrow it down to one, I'd go with PETA. They're the only one of the three that I can imagine someone getting indignant over the event about and bringing up "media attention". Of course, I could be wrong... The thing that's throwing me off is that I don't see any signs or costumes/body paint, which PETA usually has during their protests (unless that's what you meant by a better picture would give it away).

I would say a Tunick shoot, normally though they close the places down (Selfridges in London for example), at Gateshead (again in the UK), the Baltic Centre was open and trading when the later shots were taken. His Grand Central Station shots were women only, and I think men are present here, so I 'll take a guess and Baltic Centre shoot by Tunick in 2005......or Selfridges:D PETA (or similar) protests are normally outside!

Tavern on the Green?

I very rarely post here (classic lurker), but I couldn't resist this one. Spencer Tunick at the Four Seasons (hotel and restaurant) in NYC. There you go.

You win. I'll go sulk in the corner. :(

But seriously, indignation over a Tunick shoot? "Media attention"? Klondike, where did you get that quote from?

And leave to the the Post to be the one to report it.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that Tunick is less popular in his home city than elsewhere. And even LESS popular among serious artists and intellectuals there. The quote came from the Gothamist, a sophisticated NYC blog where readers are not shy about expressing their feelings. BTW - If you read the entire quote (I left out some key words), you will note that the reference to "media attention" was directed not at Tunick, but at the owners of the Four Seasons. Still, Tunick doesn't get off light either....and I suppose if you were a struggling artist you might resent how he's made his living also.

http://gothamist.com/2008/03/27/no_jacket_requi.php

Page down to see reader responses. I actually thought the quote might have been in jest. It almost seemed worded to sound like it came from a classic prude or snob. You decide.... and sorry - I said the quote was from an eye witness. Oops, that was not correct.

Congrats to anyone that mentioned "Tunick" in your reply, and especially to Jots01 who hit the nail on the head.
