Sweet!
Whoaaaaa!! :D
Awesome pic set. Thanks for debuting it here. Looks like there must be some kinda story behind it, yes? Or maybe I'm just not familiar enough with Hogs 'n Heifers Anyway, great stuff. Thanks. |
Great pics Sir, for which I offer you my thanks!!
Is Hogs n Heifers in New York or am I confused? |
thanks
Thanks for posting. I have been there couple of times. I don't drink. So I ordered a soda, that harcore bartender gave me a longneck Bud. It was fun. Please post more if you have. It was so much fun to spend weekend over there.

Outstanding! I love the blonde!
|
This was the only Hogs N Heifers at the time, around W 13th st.. This was just before the meatpacking district became very popular and a week after Julia Roberts was spotted losing her bra out her sleeve on the bar. I didn't know this at the time, I just knew it was a nice filthy dive I'd been to once in the middle of the afternoon and played pool.

great time
I thought that place was the original of Coyote Ugly. If you have been to Hog n Heifer, Coyote seems to be so lame. That is my opinion. Thanks for pics.

It depends
It depends on when you get there and what night and what bartender and pure luck. I have been to Hogs and Coyote and The Red Rock West and many other dive bars in NYC. It is hit or miss but action is best on Fri and Sat nights or special event nights and after 10pm. Lots of fun if you hit it right! Hogs and Red Rock seem to be better than Coyote.

Dont be fooled
This place sucks balls. Overpriced and shit like this rarely happens anymore

I agree
I agree to surfer. I also like Village Idiot as well. Those who plans to go to NYC can check them out. It is so much fun down there.
|
First of all, Village Idiot is dead. The owner started a place called The Patriot, and it sucked so bad that I never went back, so I have no clue if it still exists.
As for Coyote, I know the bartenders, and they are a lot of fun to hang out and drink with. We have a bunch of their pictures up on the site. If you go frequently (as I used to), you get to see a lot of female patrons get roused into dancing on the bar and/or taking their tops off for Coyote shirts. It doesn't happen all the time, however. If you want a guaranteed look at a naked woman dancing, try Scores, the Hustler club, or the many other establishments catering to that audience. You have a 100% chance of seeing a naked woman there. |

Hogs n Heifers was the first place I saw that served dirt cheap PBR (in the trucker hat sense). And the bartender would turn off the deafening music and scream at the entering boys up from Wall Street to "take that fucking tie off or get the fuck out of my fucking bar". And I had to throw away my goddamn shoes after that nite from all the beer on the floor and broken glass. I went by months later and there were lines and shit. I don't do lines. I got sentimental reasons for saying this stuff and no, I won't tell. |
are there more posts or a website of these places?
|
Used to be a great web site...
There used to be a great web site called NYC bar pals and it showed all the dive bars, girls who served and lots of pictures. It has since been taken down for "lack of interest" as the owner of the site put it. You can check out www.redrockwestsaloon.com and see some events and photos there. It is a dying breed but like I said before, catch it right and it is wild.

Oh Hogs and heifers how I miss thee
This was truly one of the greatest bars I have ever been in and I'm comparing it to places like the limelight when richie rich used play simon seez, and the old days at the mud club and Max'x kansas city.
I am suprised the poster who ordered a soda got a beer. The barmaids must of been in a good mood that night because normally you would have been thrown out. The one I went to was down on 13th street and Washington. The uptown place was a joke. The downtown place was where the owners hung out-Dell one of the owners along with his wife died at the 13th street one and that pretty much when it went down hill. Coyote ugly was Hogs and heifers light/ No one went there. After about 2000 Hogs and heifers was over, I didn't even stop in for a nostalgic drink anymore and I don't even know if it's still there. As to when things like what happened in the photos tended to happen, they tened to happen during the week. The place was full of lame wanna bees on Friday and Saturday. The best night was Thursday. Plus I knew must of the bartenders and they tended to get the place hopping only when they saw it was mostly regulars and not lamo frat boys. But you would ussually see at least two topless woman on the bar dancing every night. Usually it was a quick dance to one song then a quick flash but alot of girl were more adventurous and stayed on the bar topless for a long time, even making out with each other. But like all good things it's time has come and gone. It makes you really miss old time new york before gulianai and bloomberg sucked all the fun out of it and made it fascist town. I remeber on the coner of hogs and heifers there was always the transvestite and transexual hookers but all the yuppies who moved into the meatpacking disctrict made sure they got kicked out and all the good bars got closed down so the asshole yuppies could destroy yet another neighborhood so they could get cheap apartment and good sleeping hours. Yet another neighborhood gone forever never to come back. Just like they did to williamsburg. Sorry for going on so long but when you love a city like NYC they way I do and I'm a native New Yorker, you hate when these transplants come and destroy it. But thanks for the photos. They reminded me that there was once a time when NYC was a fun place to be. |
