I just have to say this

and get this off my chest. I hope this is not considered too rough or mean by OCC standards, if it is then please pull it and accept my apologies. It will feel good just to put it into type.

In the 3 plus years I have been here I have NEVER and I repeat NEVER complained about people replying to threads. Mostly because I understand that many people are too "focused" on the pics to drop everything and write something. However, i just posted 3 freaking pages of some pretty damn good pictures if I do say so myself. In fact, Fango, who usually will picks one to three pictures to comment on chose about 10 to say something about this time, so I know the girls were hot.

Now, my thread has been viewed already over 1,500 times in less than two days and two people, one of which is Fango, have replied to that thread. And I'd like to say to the rest of you lurkers who have looked at it, you are so freaking welcome. Do you realize how much time it takes to search for and save that many pics, not to mention posting them? Well, for those of you who have never posted a thing in your life, it takes a good damn while.

So, anyway, I hope you enjoyed my work becuase I'm not posting shit for a good while now. You can all kiss my ass and find your own pics.

And like I said, it's not that I want 30 people replying to my threads, or threads of the other posters here, but it sure would be nice to see a new name pop up once in a while so we know these lurkers actaully appreciate this place, because those of us who post here love it.

Anyway, like I said, if that's too harsh, my apologies.

Im pretty much guilty of not posting, i have a few threads i follow and post comments on. I post pics in a diffrent forum were i have some threads. It seems to me you need to buy the pass to get vids and the really good stuff. I can appreciate how long it takes to post all of the pics in the thread your talking about. Lurkers dont care if you quit posting they will just rely on the other posters on the forum. Thanks for all of your efforts on the forum.

everlong057 12-06-2007 11:31 AM

Well, my friend. For one I've had the pass which I got for free because of my involvement with OCC. And two, you may be right about lurkers not caring about me posting, but I happen to know for sure that no one at OCC posts mixes like I do. That's not bragging, it's just a fact. My mixes contain more pics, I'd like to think more originality, and certainly more amounts than do most others.

Now, those lurker may not care and that's fine, but if they don't care about my posts why does the number of views on my posts shoot up so quickly? I know what I do here is appreciated and good work, I've just finally had it with the losers who don't even have the courtesy to give props to any of us who work hard to keep this place going.

You say they won't care about me not posting but wiat until enough people say screw it. I hope that never happens but you get the idea. I'm just in one of those moods where I'm sick of working my ass off for a bunch of ungrateful little bastards.

everlong057 12-06-2007 01:24 PM

Also, I just want to be clear that I am not just talking about my threads. I am speaking about anyone who posts here and the silent but horny people who have no appreciation for what people here do.

dro 12-06-2007 03:49 PM

Sounds like you need a vacation. I probably shouldn't say anything but yes, I think you are being a little harsh. It's very disrespectful of you to call members who don't post comments on yours or other members threads "losers" or "ungrateful little bastards" or "horny people who have no appreciation". Leaving comments like this IMO is not going to get you or this site very far. You have no idea who is looking at and/or saving your pics. There might not be any lurkers looking at your thread. They could all be members that post their own stuff on a regular basis or have posted in the past and have noting left to post. Some might not even actually like your thread. There are over 120,000 members here and only some 1700 have viewed. That is a very small percent.

I don't expect or ask that anyone post a comment on my posts. All I can do is hope that members enjoy my posts and that it encourages others to post, which I know it has, so we can get the best stuff all at the best place, here at OCC.

I have a theory that if you expect something you will allways be disapointed in some way. On the other hand, if you don't expect anything and get something good you don't expect, it is bonus.

Fango 12-06-2007 05:55 PM

Speaking as a horny person who has great appreciation for your work Everlong, I must say that I can certainly feel your pain. I was shocked that I was the first person to comment on your latest mix, and that was several hours after you first posted it. I truly believe that you are one of the top 3 posters at this forum, and I really hope you reconsider your decision and keep posting your mixes.

New name. 1st post. Thank you. Happy?

<crawls back under rock from which I came ;)>

everlong057 12-07-2007 01:08 AM

Thanks, Fango, you obviously know exactly what I meant, unlike Dro. And I don't mean that as an insult to Dro. He is entitled to his opinion and I can even understand where he's coming from. Although I completely disagree with the statement that only people who post are the ones viewing other posts. But I don't want to turn this into an argument. I was really just blowing off some steam and I'm sure that I won't stop posting. I simply just wish that more people would show their appreciation to everyone who posts here because it's not like we do it just for the hell of it and I certainly don't do it for recognition. It really does take time and effort to do what we do and, speaking for myself, I do it because I love this place and the people who run it and post here and I want it to continue being the top amateur free forum.

Anyway, I've said my peace, and again, I'm glad you got where I was coming from, Fango.

yep mate i know where coming from

The thing is that probably some 95% of the lurkers here have absolutely no idea how much time and effort we put into finding new pics/vid until they give it a go themselves. Thankfully there are some that do, but most prob think 'pics and all' just fall on our laps.

Alex 12-07-2007 02:09 AM

everlong057,

I understand your point of view.

I have a couple of ideas to improve things in the future.

We're considering adding a new "Thank You" button with each post that would let people say thanks without bumping threads or the need to type a message. In my mind this would be an easy way to recognize good posts, without running the risk of being abused like the thread rating system has been in the past.

We're also considering adding a rewards system, that would offer perks/upgrades to members who contribute to the forums. This would not be based solely on post counts, rather we would base it on more on people's attachment statistics so it would better reflect what that member has contributed to the forums here.

In the past, we've always tried to treat "Lurkers" gently. Perhaps there will come a day that we say enough is enough and make things more exclusive here. We can't force people to post, but we could choose to place limits on how much free porn the "Lurkers" can download.

The way I see things, there are two ways different people can support our community.
  1. Contribute your best photos & videos and encourage other people who are posting here by replying to threads you particulary enjoy.

    -- OR --

  2. Get a One Click Pass and be a "lurker" with a clean conscience. ;)

Thanks,

Klondike 12-07-2007 02:38 AM

Everlong, I've gotten out of the habit of checking the amateur forum for pics. Seems I only get down there once a month or so now. Anyway, you are more or less my sole reason for going there at all these days. The quality of your posts is astonishing and I marvel at the variety and freshness. I have tried to respond to every one of your posts that I see, but I do miss a fair number too (including recent ones). That is my loss......:(

As for lurkers not responding......sigh.......there is a small chance that this is seasonal. I have noticed that traffic to my website has dropped in half in the past few weeks. And I myself usually take a break from Nov to March, then pick up again in the spring. For some reason the libido wains or something......I don't know :) But mainly it may be that the crop of summer vacation pics have dropped off leaving less reason to surf. Anyway - I surely would miss your posts if you were to get too pissed to continue. I would personally register 10 people to do nothing else but respond to your threads if that is what it takes :)

I think it is a truism that a majority of members here don't know a great post when they see one simply because they don't know a fresh pic from a repost. So they just gobble everything and run, fearful of responding lest they say something stupid.

Anyway, just my two cents worth. I should use the buddy feature or whatever its called to track your threads so that I don't miss them in the future.

cheers,

klondike

mrmarco 12-07-2007 08:12 AM

its always been the case here
the lurkers arent going to respond i bet if you take a look you will find about 95 percent of the comments on this board come from people who post and contribute themselves
i have given up on hopes that someone will say thanks for that post or good job i just post because iwant to and if some one comments great

Well, shoot, thanks for all of that, Klondike. I certainly did not make this thread searching for props from people but I really appreciate your kind words. And the part about hiring 10 people just to reply to my stuff is freaking hillarious! But, please save your money. :):p

Good points about seasonal lurking or replying too. I know lurkers will always be with us and they'll grab their porn and run just like always, but hearing from you guys has really helped me be able to laugh about it again. Thank you for that.

Alex,

I couldn't agree more with the last two sentences and I apreciate the fact that you see where I, and others, am coming from. I guess limits on lurkers wouldn't be such a bad thing, but in all honesty I hope it never comes to that, as much as they do piss me off sometimes.

Now, I do like the idea of the perk system. I rememeber when I was given an OCC pass a few years back and I thought that was the neatest shit I had ever been a part of on the net. It was just really cool to have OCC hook up the senior members with that privelege. Whether it was out of thanks or to give exposure it was still cool.

And I'm very glad that you and 99% of the others who have replied here understand that I'm not whining or crying for attention with this thread. All of you, except for Dro, know what the hell I'm talking about and I appreciate you telling me so.

Thanks,

Everlong

My experience has been that about .05% of the registered members and guests actually participate in any forum. There may be another .05% that occasionally comment if they really really see something awesome and can't help themselves for that brief moment. It is true that the majority of supportive comments do come from other posters IMO.

2. I think that Alex has a great idea with the 'Thank You' button and hopefully you will still get comments from those of us that appreciate your efforts.

3. If you are like me you probably are posting just because you enjoy doing it and not for props. However, like you, I do want to know if people are actually enjoying the posts. If nobody makes a comment it leaves you with a kind of empty feeling of not knowing what people think.

4. To me, it is easy and simple to just make a little comment. If I was lurking and getting all of this for free I would feel that it is the least I could do. Apparently that isn't how the lurkers feel. :(

5. I to would very much like you to reconsider after a few days of rest and please do resume your posts. I for one will be looking and enjoying. :)

showoffzzz the word here wasnt met in a negative way I merely used it cause the discusion was about here i know how it is on every other forum to its just not the nude forums either its the same on all the discussion forums

dro 12-07-2007 04:19 PM

Don't worry. I'm not insulted. I knew I shouldn't have said anything. I never said I know for a fact that only people who post are the ones viewing other posts. My statement was only an example that we have no idea who is looking at our posts. I'm not sure if you know this but you could watch here https://forum.oneclickchicks.com/online.php to see who viewing your threads and catch the lurkers in the act. lol.

Sorry you think I'm that 1% but I do understand your frustration. I know you were just venting. I just thought you were being a little harsh, only because of the name calling in the two posts after your first post. If it wasn't for the name calling, I definately wouldn't have said anything. I'm glad you understood where I was coming from.

There does seem to be a strange pattern with thank you posts and there is some truth to it being seasonal but I think it also has something to do with what people like and what we might think people like or possibly even psycological. I have seen threads with one pic or vid get more thanks than threads with many pics or vids. Or even different topics like something that we might expect is good doesn't get many thanks and then something we don't expect is good gets a lot of thanks. This site has gotten so big and there are so many factors involved that is should probably be concidered a social experiment.

Glad to hear your feeling a little better even though I might be holding you back from that 1%

everlong057 12-07-2007 06:41 PM

No, I don't consider you being a part of who I was referring to, Dro and I'm glad that you didn't take any offense when I referred to you. Also, you are right that I shouldn't have used any name calling. That's a bi-product of my frustrtaion but it's no excuse.

But I do want you to understand that I seriously have not just been talking about replies to my threads. I get plenty of replies, but the thing is they are usually from all of our regulars, which is great but I just wish more people would show everyone more appreciation.

Also, you DO post and people who DO conrtribute here should not even for one second think that anything I said was directed at them. I'm simply talking about participation and it's obvious that you, as do many others, thankfully, do participate.

Anyway, like I said, it's out of my system. My only hope is that some of what everyone has said here gets thru to a few people and they can learn to take a few seconds to thank all of the people here for their dedication to OCC.

Everlong

everlong057 12-07-2007 06:51 PM

and hopefully you will still get comments from those of us that appreciate your efforts.

3. If you are like me you probably are posting just because you enjoy doing it and not for props.

Showoffzzzz, please understand that I am not seeking "approval" or attention. I did begin the thread out of frustration about my last thread but I have been speaking about everyone here who posts and doesn't get a simple thank you. Like you said, I don't do it for props and I even mentioned that I do it for the love of this place and everyone involved with it. Believe me, the last thing I want to come off sounding like is someone whining about not getting replies to their thread. Although, I know that is very much what it sounds like. Truth be told, I really don't like it when people reply to their own threads saying things like, " 200 views and no responses?"

And this is why I have never said anything about it until now. At least I don't ever recall saying anything about it. My intention was not to cause a big drama or stink. I know that's not what OCC is about. I suppose I just had a burr up my ass and felt the need to call out the lurkers.

Take Care, my friend.

Everlong

mcp1275 12-08-2007 04:15 PM

my two cents worth

its nice to be appreciated
i post when and what i feel like
if i get comments it shows there are people who like what i'm posting
if i don't get comments then i guess they don't
it makes me enjoy looking for pics to post when i know others enjoy what i post
i haven't been searching or posting a lot probably because my enthusiasm has waned
i don't post comments very much because a post is usually up for days before i see it
i use to try when i was here a lot and was current but i feel silly when it's been a week since something was posted
before i see it and then i post a comment on it
sorry i haven't been more consistent
and i do know how u feel everlong

D.P.S 12-11-2007 10:39 AM

Everlong and everyone out there who work hard to keep improving this forum, thank you for your great posts.

I think the idea of a thank you button, and the one for upgrades given to consistant posters is a great one, I for one logged on today to talk about the upgrade option and seeing here made it nice to know it's already being considered, I for one am not as "legendary" as many of you guys but i post when i can.

I'm not a big fan of the Sexy Amateurs section so i've never really seen your work everlong, if i had i would have most deffenetly left a thank you as i did check them out quickly just now so i could leave an educated responce (or try to) and i can appriciate the work that went in to them.

phoe 12-13-2007 02:13 PM

I also think that a "thank you button" will be a great idea ,
it's so frustrating to make posts and not to get replies :(

czarcaztic 12-15-2007 09:44 AM

New kid on the block here.

I am on a dial-up connection, so I couldn't possibly post in the volume that the likes of Everlong, et al, do. But I really like the idea of a "Thank You" button. It would allow the poster to see that I appreciate the time and effort that (s)he has put into posting. I feel sorta weird pulling up a bunch of threads, perusing the offerings as though I was at an all-you-can-eat buffet, downloading my selections, then thanking the poster for their work....I know this bumps the thread, and for no reason other than I wanted to say thanks. So, to avoid a dozen threads getting bumped, as happened a few days ago.....I sometimes just download and move on. An extraordinary post, such as those of Everlong, will get a thank you, almost always. But like I said, I feel "dopey" cluttering up the board with a bunch of Thank You's. I just finished reading a thread about lots of bumps due to all the "great thx" posts. This is the sort of thing I am trying to avoid, so I feel kinda stuck between a rock, and a hard place.

Anyway, thanks to all. And Merry Christmas!

Alex 12-16-2007 03:38 AM

We are testing out the new "Thanks" feature now.

I hope it works out. I think people will like it.

Now go check out some of everlong057's threads and be sure to say thanks if you like what you see. :p

Thanks,

Dang, Alex, now I sound like a big cry baby.:o Thanks for the Thanks button too, I think this will make it a lot easier for people to show their appreciation for everyone's hard work.

Thanks for the plug too, Alex. :)
