WNBR 2007- lets talk
 

The World Naked Bike Ride is this weekend. Cities that had major rides last year include Chicago, Portland, OR and London. Any others? Vancouver and Victoria, BC have good rides. I covered Seattle last year but this year am going to try and cover Portland. Any pics I get or find will go in this thread.

So heads up, folks. Check out the main WNBR site for rides in your area (google it). Remember, photographs help spread the word about our energy situation, so don't feel guilty if you snap a few. But be polite also. I could give you some other pointers too - naked rides can be tough to cover.

Then when its all over - go to Flickr.com because pics taken by others will start arriving there immediately. I noticed a positive trend in Seattle and maybe other cities as well - and that is the WNBR seems to be inspiring other rides, including a "hemp ride", scheduled to debut later this year - naked of course. And don't forget "Critical Ass", the naked version of "Critical Mass". Thanks to the internet, rides these days franchise quickly as they get more and more exposure. I plan to do my part in the exposure department. Just the right amount - you won't get any overexposed or underexposed pics from me. Heh, heh! thats a little joke. OK.......:) ON WITH THE PICS (well, wait until after June 10th, anyway).

Portland has two rides tomorrow. The nightime one attracts most of the riders and young people, but its expected to rain tomorrow night. That means the daylight ride might get some of those that don't want to get cold and wet...

If I have enough of these, I'll start a new thread for them. But for now, I'll put them here. These pics are from the daylight ride in Portland, OR. There is always a small turnout for the daylight ride compared to the nighttime ride.
Also, it was raining heavily. So I did the best I could. I should have more pics tomorrow.

There were 15-25 riders in all and about five were women. I followed them around for a while in my car, taking pics from behind, then racing ahead at times to get front shots. I thought the pics would come out better, but I guess with the rain and shooting through the windshield and all - oh well. Hope you like anyway.....

From this years London ride. I think London's may be the best in the world - up to 1000 people this year. I guess that cop made sure he pulled duty that day. The sacrifices they make for us..... :)

OK, I went to the Portland night ride. It was phenomenal. Unfortunately, I am not accustomed to night shooting and I messed up big time. Sorry to let you down. I knew pics might be blurry, so I figured I'd try movies if pics didn't come out. But after one or two attempts at a movie, my battery gave out.

Below are a couple of pics. The movie is very short and is down in the movie section.

There were well over 100 twenty something babes in this ride. Lots were fully nude. It was like a college event, and after it was over, naked babes walked into the post ride dance party and it was all I could do not to follow them in.
Dozens milled about the sidewalk outside the dance after the ride was over.

Next time I'll be better prepared :(

San Francisco ride plus a few misc ones..

People don't seem to get as enthusiastic about pics from WNBR as they do pics of campus rides like the UVermont ride. They think of WNBR and they think of older, fat nudists or something. But the rides vary tremendously between cities. Each ride has a core unit of 10-50 that are older naturists. But rides like the Portland, Vancouver, Chicago, Brighton and possibly London are more than that, really hybrids - one part nudist, one part campus. Or in some cases 1 part nudist, 9 parts campus. Young people flocked to the Portland ride last night like coeds to a rock concert. The atmosphere was electric. I don't think there was hardly a babe over 40 in the ride, and 90 percent were under 30 (100-200 babes in all, 30-40% fully nude). If you like the naked mile, UVermont ride and first rain, this was essentially no different. Problem is so far - no one has really documented it yet...... :confused:

So don't take WNBR for granted......

yeehawww!! Portland nighttime ride!! The BEST WNBR ride anywhere! Here are four pics and i wrote a story of my experience there to go with them (no these aren't my pics, they're flickr pics).
