What codec are these?
I'm not sure, but they played fine for me with Windows Media Player.

Any video experts that can help elsydeonesper?

elsydeonesper,
What OS and player are you using? I don't understand why you would get that error when playing an mpeg.

You might try this page. It seems to have a lot of info and links to codecs.

I don't usually have problems with codecs but all the videos on this page i can't view.
Does anyone know what codec is required to watch these because links to sites with hundreds of codecs doesn't help unless I know what i'm looking for.

...thanks.

logik_shj 03-03-2004 02:37 PM

Theres a free program called avicodec that analyses video files and tells you what codec it uses. It can be downloaded from this site:

http://avicodec.duby.info/

I checked the files in this thread and the codec you need to view all the files is the MPEG2 codec which is used to watch DVDs and SVCDs.

Hope this helps.

The problem is that you don't have the MPEG-2 Codec which is mainly for DVD playback. I found a great codec after searching for about 20 minutes and all of the clips are playing great in both WMP and Real Player. Just extract the files and run the exe and you'll be good to go.

Lincoln where did you find the file "perfect+kimmy1.mpeg"?

It really looks like the girl Amy from the show Everwood on the WB. Any ideas?

goodwood 10-02-2004 01:46 PM

thnx puck71 for posting the codec...worked like a charm

CP 10-02-2004 02:12 PM

info on the video

Video : 218 KB, 1792 Kbps, 29.970 fps, 720*480 (16:9), MPG2 = MPEG 2 (SVCD/DVD), Supported
Audio : 23 KB, 192 Kbps, 24000 Hz, 1 channels, 0x50 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 1 [0xc0], Supported
File : 349 KB (242 KB), duration: 0:00:01, type: MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 93 %

this is the video info for the first clip posted, windows media should play it fine. but an mpeg2 codec would help if you have problems. I use Elecard MPEG2 v1.30EXE codec
