Ofcom
Another one of my fave forums has had its access to the UK blocked due to the new Online Safety regulations. I wonder how long before OCC and others are also blocked.

Which one was that? Is VPN the answer? |
cloudflare
A certain celeb forum I love has been blocked by Cloudflare, what the hell is it and is there a way around it?

Opera browser
I read a thread on this subject in a forum on another site and it was suggested that those experiencing this problem should download the Opera browser as it apparently has an in-built VPN.
I don't need it myself, thankfully, but it might be worth a try. |

I'm surprised that all UK members are not using a VPN already so as your visits to OCC and other similar sites can not be tracked and logged by your ISP. While the 'Snoopers Charter' as proposed by Theresa May was not passed in law your ISP may still log every site visited and potentially the government could request any logs.
A free browser plug-in will do, this may track you too but so long as no personal details it does not matter, I have used several over the years. At the beginning of the year I had a 16mths for price of 12 code for Surfshark then after I joined a price for another 24 months. The total was around £50 so around £1.50 a month. I find selecting the Netherlands works well for sites either blocked to the UK or if accessed with a UK IP address verification is required. |
Firefox has a built-in VPN which works well enough to get you onto blocked websites like i***efap and pixhost. You'll need an email address to get a code but it's free and gives you 50Gb a month which I find to be enough (just).
Does it work as well as a paid for VPN like surfshark, etc? Doubtful, but at least it overcomes some of this government overreach. |
