The best time to be alive?
Seeing comments about the dip in interest in the WNBR in recent years, makes me wonder when people think the best time to be alive has been, for gentlemen of our particular cultural persuasions.
I guess a lot of it will be generational, younger people won't know too much about earlier times but maybe the stories they hear here will mythologise them? Maybe for everyone it will be whatever era they lived through in their teens and 20s, when they were young and life was exciting and possibilities lurked everywhere? Perhaps the ever increasing sophistication in technology means that regardless of what we have lost, unlimited access to everything today more than makes up for it? Or maybe the very ease of access normalises and demystifies the experience of sex and nudity, taking away the excitement; mainstream movies and TV shows becoming more explicit, porn going mainstream, which leads into the over-commercialisation of everything so that even the girl next door is trying to make a buck on Onlyfans? I don't know, so I made a poll. But I'm more interested in comments and reasoning than just numbers, which probably won't inform me much anyway. I don't want to lead people with my own opinion just yet but I'll chip in later if the thread doesn't plummet like a rock. |
Did the seventies never happen? Was it all a figment of my imagination?
|
I've heard a lot of great things about the 60's; but I wasn't born yet so I have no personal references.
But there is not only a decade but also a geographical component for me. The 70's and 80's in Europe; primarily France and Germany. Nudism was already prevalent in Germany by the 80's. I'd go to Germany on vacation and see naked people in public parks. The topfree "explosion" in France took place in the late 70's and 80's. Boobs were everywhere. Even my prude Mom took off her top at the beach during that era. As did just about friend/classmate I knew; at the beach, lake or public pool. Full nudity was in commercials, movies and adverts. Many people I knew had at least tried nudism, if not practiced it on holiday. Nakedness was openly talked about. As a teenager, my mind was blown. All the nudity available on the internet now is nothing to me compared to all the "live" nudity I experienced back then. |
Too young to experience the 70's but my Dad told me I missed out big time!
In my own experience, young pussy came easy until I turned 40 then it got a LOT more difficult. But if you still look good after 40, you can still have fun with young babes if you offer a little financial 'persuasion'. |
Regarding Europe in the 80s:
I was a guy on holiday in Brittany with parents & younger sister. They took us to a beach about 10 miles way that the holiday rep had recommended. Shortly after we arrive my family go for a walk & leave me alone, digging in the sand. Suddenly this late 20s French BABE appears & sets up her towel about 15ft away. To my amazement she strips completely naked right in front of me, even smiling at me when she caught me looking. This was the first real-life naked woman I'd ever seen! After 5 minutes of me ogling this beauty my prudish parents & have a fit. Suddenly they realise we took a wrong turn at the beach entrance & entered the nudist section! We leave almost immediately & never return but I know there's another beach within half a mile of the campsite. I start going down every afternoon about 4pm & enjoy all the French/Dutch/German girls getting topless or even completely naked. I distinctly remember this young STUNNER about 22 years old sunbathing completely nude face up, while much older men walked along the promenade 15ft above her enjoying the view. She got up every 20 minutes to rub suntan oil over her body, totally comfortable being completely naked in public. The amount of nude women who smiled at me as I walked along the beach amazed me, several of them happily let me watch them strip. I do believe it was these French holidays from 1987-1990 which triggered my voyeurism. |
As an American who is more of an ass man than anything I’d say the current era has been the best of my life (born in 1981). There was a time where seeing a gal in a thong was an event. Now if you want to see what a girls ass looks like just find her instagram. There’s a 80% chance she’s got a cheeky pic on there. And to be at a beach or pool these days is an ass mans heaven.

80’s and in Your 20’s
It was a pretty good combination and we had a lot of fun. I mean as much fun as one can have with a chick in leg warmers…. Once you got through all the hair life was golden… lol Some pretty hot looks and everyone actually “got dressed” even if you were going nowhere special. They looked good! |

80-ties and 90-ties when I grew up.
Like stated by others, lots of topless and naked women over here in Europe. And from all ages, teens to garanties. On the other hand, no time like the present with all the digital online fun like this forum and others with chat, pics and vids. |
Ignore post

Ignore my oddly placed post from a completely other thread that somehow landed here… lol ( oops!? I guess?! ) |
If you’re an ass guy the answer is today. Came back from the Caribbean and if a woman did not have at least a cheeky bottom on or a near to full thong she stuck out. Even at Disney World and Universal featured rears are everywhere. If you’re a tit guy then i’s say late 90s and early 2000s.
For me it is late 90s early 2000s. In the Caribbean tits were everywhere and women were keeping a tidy to saved pubs too. |

But back in the 80s in France - wow. The breasts on display were just completely amazing to this teen. Spent all day walking the beaches for a week in the south of France. Spent all night wanking. Good times. |
Early 70's. I was in grad school, all the undergraduates were now on the pill and wanted to fuck, just because they could. Some weeks I got 3 new piece of tail.
|
The seventies for me, too.
Women had lots of pubic hair. There was plenty full frontal nudity on stage, in films and on TV. First time I had sex. I was with a girl who liked to show off her naked body. At a university where people swam and sun bathed nude in the grounds. Discovered nude beaches in UK and France. Plus, I was young enough for it all to be a novelty. I had better sex in the eighties and amazing times in all the decades that followed. Met my wife in the nineties. But the seventies were special. Music then was fantastic too. Just a shame I didn't take advantage of it all as much as I might have done. What I'd give to go back and live it again. |

I have to throw my lot in with the current period, just because I can vicariously live through everyone else's experiences from previous eras through their stories, pictures and videos, which of course we can access today with ease and in privacy, without any awkward encounters with magazine vendors (or in some cases, hedgerows). My second choice though would probably be the late 90s/early 2000s when the Internet was just beginning to appear in pretty much everyone's homes, if not yet on their phones. Broadband was making video-conferencing accessible to most people for the first time, and there were a whole bunch of sites popping up allowing both private 1-on-1 conversations and group chats where you could choose to watch maybe up to 8 feeds at the same time. Jennicam was a big thing, a girl who just streamed her entire home life onto the internet, no filters. But you could find plenty of Jennis out there, from countries across the world, who found you just as exotic as you found them, who were young, chatty, fun, and most significantly, uninhibited. There are women from that period I'm still sporadically in touch with, now married, with adult children that I remember as bumps in bellies. It didn't last long, as soon as the pay-cam sites opened to amateurs the most uninhibited ones migrated there and other less blatantly sexual sites gave the remainder of the pretty, chatty girls an opportunity to keep chatting to men but make tips while doing so, and all the free sites started enforcing no-sex rules then (who would have guessed) lost customers and wound down. It suddenly got much more difficult to meet new "interesting" people (though I had a respectable number who I kept in touch with on AIM and MSN). But it was fun while it lasted. That period was also the golden age of the Naked Mile and pre-Katrina Mardi Gras whose videos I'm sure we have all seen and appreciated that seem to have an eagerness and innocence about them that you don't often see any more, and was also the time when Spencer Tunick was just becoming well known and the stuff he was doing was still novel, unusual and exhilarating for those taking part, as I learned in 2005. So the 2000s are my second choice, and I would put the 2010s third because that's when I personally got to experience the WNBR, Cap d'Agde, performance nudity in Live Art and theatre, and various other things I participated in which involved making diverse fascinating new friends and seeing many of them naked. Those opportunities just weren't there in earlier years, though even if they had been I'd probably not have had the confidence to throw myself into them at that time. I guess if I'd been born in a different decade I might have a different perspective. It's hard for me to imagine what it's like for young'uns for whom the Internet has just always been around, maybe that innocence and "first time" exhilaration is harder to find now because parent filters are so easy to get around, but maybe they are just more comfortable and confident with their sexuality at a younger age now? The crazy permissive stuff from the 60s and 70s is also mind-blowing, but also only lasted for a relatively short period of our history. They all seem like good times to be alive! |
I agree with the rational for the 70’s it was an amazing time of sexual awakening but I was so “young dumb and full of cum” that I missed many opportunities in the early 70s - made up for it in the second half and into the 80’s.
So it bridged the two decades for me. I just got the swing of it by then… |

Was the 90s for me but what I'd give for another go, would have double/triple my notch count :( |
I only remember late 90s onwards so perhaps a skewed opinion but I'm going for now.
Combination of shaved bare pussies meaning you see a lot more when nudity is involved and thong bikinis meaning you see a lot more when nudity is not involved. Hoping we can add a return is topless beach + general bralessness before the decade is out, then it will be perfect. |

Less on the crowded beaches, but there are lots of stretches of beach almost deserted. Past several years while on holiday there (such a great holiday country btw), while hiking along or having lunch at the beach, we encountered several topless and naked (majority) women and couples ... so my wife and I couldn't stay behind and also went au naturel a lot 🙂 |
The 90s and here's why...
The 90s had big popularity of the original Victoria Secret Angel Bra which was a sheer bra. And shirts and dresses were solid colors without looking like d****ry as in today. Plus, there was no such thing as boxer-briefs for women and skirts where shorter. The only downside - Little if any leggings and thong bikinis were just coming on the scene.
Great topic. |

My ex was one of the first women (in the 90's) at our resort to go completely bald. She'd seen bald women/friends here and there, and felt it "made a statement" (about what, I'm not sure). Her bald vulva exposed certainly made an impression in contrast to all the other hairy ones; and probably inspired some other women to follow suite. Today she would be like everyone else at the resort. It's funny how things change. Hairy women at the resort now actually get more noticed than the bald ones. |
