Flickr, New restriction on Pics download??

For the non-downloadable pics, I was always using the "Inspect" right-click and then opening a direct link to "live.staticflickr.com..." to get the pic.

Lately, I'm receiving more and more the following error:
403 Forbidden
Request forbidden by administrative rules.

Are You experiencing the same? If so, Did you found a workaround?

I have no problem. Still works for me.

You could always use screengrab software if they are blocking unloading.

View all sizes, then Right click "View Page Source". Scroll down - about half way all the pics are linked, but at the end of the list is the link to a copiable image.

Yes, i'm using a similar method...

I had to ask then question for the "Forbidden" message to stop... Back to normal for now. (Fingers crossed)

Page layout

They recently changed the page layout. I used to have a Firefox plugin called Flickr Size Pickr which made it easier to download any size photo but it's stopped working. I think this is just due to the formatting change rather than a deliberate attempt to prevent downloads.

But you get only the resolution of what u seen on the screen and have to "cut out" what u like.

the better solution is they way as velocence said - even it is a bit complex and therefore uncomfortable.

Flickr (not the users and photographers for sure) get more and more bad and converts to a oneline version of iran and the USA TV :-(

It's so bad - i liked the possibilitys of (old) Flickr so much - and some pictures i don't managed to find elsewhere (picture search via search engines was always a problem)

With a very few "pages" inside flickr it still works - but yes -it is nearly useless now (like flickr it self after some "updates for the "rich" and not in pricacy interested users...)

Recent update on that issue:
"Your Pro account was terminated for Terms of Use and Community Guideline violations..."

"More specifically: Accessing content using an unauthorized process."
In clear, using the "Inspect page" to find the link to access directly the pics is not tolerated anymore...
The termination occur only minutes after downloading pics using the go around...

So be careful... You won't receive any refund for the remaining months of you Pro subscription

Now, I have to create a fresh/virgin profile with a brand new email to be able to create a new account :p

Drat!

I wonder if using
Firefox, Tools, Page Info, Media
will be detected?

I'm a bit nervous to try.

You'll have to create a secondary/dummy account to find out...
Keep us posted!

Some new restrictions on download for Free account are coming next May 15...
We’re rolling out a service update to Flickr’s download options for free accounts, and we want you to know what to expect. Starting May 15, Flickr will restrict downloads of original and large-size images (larger than 1024px) owned by free accounts. If you use a free account, this update applies to both your own content and to content shared by other free members.
More info : blog.flickr.net/en/2025/04/15/service-update-original-large-size-download-limitations-on-free-accounts/

New Flickr Photo Policy

"Starting May 15, Flickr will restrict downloads of original and large-size images (larger than 1024px) owned by free accounts. If you use a free account, this update applies to both"

New policy starts on May 15th. Is that May 15th 2024 or 2025? If 2025, you have a few more days before the new policy starts.
