Ancient Minoan Costumes
5 Attachment(s)
I have been fascinated by the costumes worn by ancient Minoans since I was a schoolboy. In middle school I gave a presentation about Ancient Greece that was illustrated by a filmstrip (remember those?) that included an image of the famous "Snake Goddess" statuette.
I understand that in Versailles, noble women used to wear gowns with extreme decolletage, but they had nothing on the Minoan women, as this 2018 exhibition from Melbourne's Hellenic Museum showed. tahneyalexandramay.com/index.php/2018/04/14/review-haute-couture-in-ancient-greece-the-spectacular-costumes-of-ariadne-helen-of-troy/ |
i find it fascinatting too
im yet too find a modern pic of someone cosplaying it in an authentic manner... |
I also like the outfits, would be fun to bring that to real life in a village that people can tour or set up some kind of yearly event for people to visit where all the women dress like that

Snake Goddess
If you go to Crete, you can see the original Goddess in the Museum of Heraklion.
The Minoans had a good time in Crete, bevore the catastrofi They found many things in the ground at the archeological sides; Paintings, Mosaics and more you can see there. |

The 25-Minute Video
Played for me. I used Google Chrome in Incognito mode.
Edit: The show started with a model dressed as the famous Snake Goddess. |

Film
A few years ago, I found a similar thread here at OCC, and couple of posters had mentioned an educational film (lol, the type that used to air on PBS when I was a kid) that featured actresses in realistic Minoan costumes.
I dedicated a good bit of time searching for that film, because it sounded awesome, especially for a low-budget movie intended for educational purposes, but I never had any luck. I don't suppose anyone here has any recollection of a movie like that ? |
