Many times you run across pictures of women who have their face blurred out. Or perhaps, they have the goodies concealed. Sometimes they aren't blured at all, but wearing something that they don't realize can be seen through. Other times they are displayed in all their glory, but the quality of the picture is bad, or blurred.

Well, that's where I come in! Perhaps you've seen a few examples of my work on these forums. I try to bring fully to life the images that would otherwise be not as revealing.

so, this thread showcases some of the images I've been able to repair. Some are great, others are barely passable. But I do what I can.

If you have any images that need work, you can post them here. NOTE: I can't fix everything. But here's a short list of things I am sometimes able to repair:

Images with a negative filter applied.
Faces that are partially blurred or covered, or pixelated.
Clothing that is tight, form fitting and thin (like a bra or swimwuit).

Attached are a few examples of face bluring that I've been able to repair with varying degress of success.

Here's some more examples of face blurs, as well as body blurs.

Here's one of my favorite types... the 'X-Ray' images. No, these girls weren't shot with an IR filter. But they are wearing clothes that have a very small amount of transparency. Usually these are bras, or swimsuits. Well, I'm able to see past all that. With some detailed enhancement, I am able to see right into the heart of the matter.

All of my repairs only use what's available in the image. There is no artifical or foreign images introduced.

I present to you, my super-duper X-Ray filter...

Some images are old, beat up polaroids... or have bad lighting, or have substantial camera blur. These are trickier to fix, but usually the effort is worth it. Here are a few examples where the original picture has been improved substantially.

vidpro 11-06-2005 12:51 PM

I have a lot more, and some are fantastic. But there are a few I'm not allowed to post. So, I'm going to adhere to the rules of the board.

However, if you have an image you'd like me to take a shot at, please upload it here! I won't be able to do all of them, but I'll take a look and see what I can do.

vidpro 11-06-2005 01:48 PM

Yes, this picture looks like it will work. Give me some time, and I'll try it out. Thanks!

If the bars are 100% solid I can't. However, even if they are 96% solid, a lot of time I would be able to remove those bars. It just depends onhow people censor their images.

If the bar is a single color, but is 4% or more transparent, I can almost completely restore the original image.

Unfortunately, these appear to be 100% solid.

Thanks for trying

good job on the others.

I've been looking for a way to fix these pics for ages.
The thing thats been bugging me is the thumbnails dont show the censorship.

Software

What software are you using....

vidpro 11-06-2005 06:52 PM

I tried... I got a little more detail around the edges, but that's it. Nothing worth seeing. This picture is too far gone. I suspect that even if the top came off, she's wearing some sort of bodysuit underneath anyway. Most dance performers do.

I was able to remove some of the blur around the arms and legs, but without enough contrast in the body, it's not worth doing much more. Sorry.

Most of what I can do is with haphazard censorship. People who cover just enough, but not all the way. As long as their is some contrast on parts you want to see, I can enhance it to the point where it is visible.

I could only get through one side. This happens a lot with bras. It depends on how they are facing the light, and how stretched the material is. I lost a bit of the color, but it the image comes through pretty strong.

When I look at these in my EXIF program, the thumbnails also appear to be censored. If you have access to the uncensored thumbnails, send those by themselves. If you need to, have the thumbnails appear on your screen and grab a screenshot. I can extract them from that.

I will try to work with these. Are you able to increae the size of your thumbnails at all? Any bit will help. Play around with it, and see if you can make them bigger (if at all possible). In the meantime, I'll give these a shot.

Ok, I'll try the larger ones. In the meantime, here's what I could do with the smaller ones...

A bit ghastly, but not bad considering how small the original thumbnails were...

Well, it's not perfect, but it's about as good as I could do with what I had. This is using the larger thumbnails you provided.

In any case, it's better than my previous attempt.

Vidpro, can you clear this old poloroid up and shis normal film print?
It would be greatly appreciated. I am sure Bigi wants it done too.

vidpro 11-07-2005 10:18 AM

Wow, lot's of requests! some of these I will be able to do. I just need time. I can't do them at the moment, but I'll try when I get the chance.

By all means, feel free to keep posting new ones while you're waiting for me.

To answer some other questions.

For XRay fixes, there is no "one" technique that works for everything. I draw from experience with a variety of types of images. However, when I get the time, perhaps I'll make a basic tutorial for people who are interested in learning what I've come to discover over the years. You'd be surprised how many outfits worn by women are actually see-thru.. even if only faintly. If you know how, you can enhance those details and make them much more see-thru.

Vidpro, what software do you use to adjust the pictures? I am mainly wondering about your x-ray effect. Do you just adjust the brightness and contrast or something more?

Thanks

Alright people...

Images with solid black boxes covering them can not be fixedd, unless I have access to an uncensored thumbnail.

I can't fix everything. However, images that are partially viewable, or not covered completely can sometimes be fixed.

I've included some fixes below. These are the ones I was able to do something with. All of the other images were too far gone. The photo restoration turned out pretty good. The image with the white shirt turned out decent too. I was able to see through both sides, but I had to use different methods to do it. That's why both sides look different. If you want them to look the same, I suppose you could make it a black and white image only.

Please continue to post images that you believe I have a chance of being able to fix.

I'm going to try to attach a zip file with a high quality version of the photo restoration job. Wow, I could have worked on that image for DAYS... but I thought I got it to a point that was good enough (you know, for free work) :)

enjoy...

Here's another restoration. This one was a lot easier than the previous one. :)

This one is half-size. I'll add a zip file to include the full size image.
