Roskilde Festival 2023 + Naked Run
 

Roskilde camp opened yesterday.

Naked Run will be this Thursday at 2pm CET.

Let's hope for a better turnout than last year, which hopefully mainly was due to bad planning, putting it simultaneously with a very popular artist.

Let's also hope for some good stuff from the lake and the camps. The weather yesterday and today is good. Tomorrow will be shit and the whole week will be very uncertain in terms of weather. Better weather = nudity more likely. So let's cross fingers.

I know last year they took them down pretty quickly after the race ended, so I was only able to save one .

I'm not entirely sure that I am able to be following the race live and post right away this year. But if I am, I will try.

Don't think so, unfortunately. Two-year covid break has probably had many businesses including festivals rethink concepts, making them want to kill some concepts and try some new ones.

The organizing camp has a Facebook page called 'Roskilde Nøgenløb'. Not much going on there, but they always share an event sometime in the spring.

I’ve been to the Roskilde festival many times. It’s a great festival although the lineups lately cater more to a different audience than me, but the younger people like it I guess.

Regarding nudity, I haven’t actually seen that much of it over the years. Not sure how the shower arrangements are now, but at some point (might still be so), there were two shower options. One were you could pay for a hot shower in a private cubicle, and a communal cold water shower for free. In the free section you could happen upon naked people of mixed gender although many would shower in swimwear. But that area could still be worth checking out for nude sightings.

The bathing lake is also a place where nudity might happen, people are sunbathing there as well and some might be topless.

Naked run obviously provides nudity.

Other than that it’s mainly random occurrences.

My impression is that the guys are more than willing to strip off but the girls are more hesitant. I think that cameras everywhere puts them off, nobody cares about naked guys, but the girls risk getting their pictures on the net for eternity. Also the rise in body issues contributes, girls today are hesitant to even be naked around other girls. To the point where they’ve stopped showering after physical education classes in school.

So don’t buy a ticket to see naked girls, but enjoy the festival and music as it’s usually a great time.

I’ve heard there is a livestream for the naked run but this is usually deleted very quickly. As such we should all make every effort to cap it. I use ‘screenbits’ software which is only around $10 on the Microsoft store and it works a treat. Rarely ever crashes and you can record in 60fps if you want.

The shower nudity mentioned earlier was called Shower Songs. It was a staged event with festival-goers volunteering to participate - here's an example

I really thought that nordic people had a totally different vision of nudity than the other European countries
There are some tv shows there with total nudity that are just impossible to see in other countries

12 women signed up for the Naked Run as of earlier today. They need three to reach the maximum 15. If I remember correctly, that's much better than last year.

Who decides that and when the date is chosen and publicly announced?

I’m not talking about that. I mean actual showers that were communal and free, but cold water only. The showers looked like the ones in shower songs though, basic containers with sprinklers above.

Used to be lots of people using them in various states of undress, but I haven’t been near them in more than a decade so not sure if they still exist.

Used to be a regular at the festival for several years, but not been there in a while now.

There is a difference between society’s view on nudity and individual willingness to be naked, and the gap is widening.

In general, nudity is not seen as dirty or unnatural, and this is reflected in movies and television among other things.
But individuals are less comfortable being naked among others more now than before, probably due to various factors, but body image issues and the risk of being photographed are probably two important ones.

This is seen in how especially girls/women act these days, almost no toplessness on the beach, refusing to shower in school etc.
There are exceptions of course, and I still believe Scandinavia is more relaxed than many other parts of the world, but it isn’t like it used to be 20 years ago, sadly.

It is hard to find nude beaches in sweden that are not isolated, and some of them are divided by gender. In France you have a hole city for nudists, Spain you can see naked people in regular beaches of barcelona and ibiza, but Italy they have more prudity, neve heard much about events there...

I think everything relies on FHD cameras on smartphones + the reach and speed videos can spread via social media.
I'm sure people used to have bodyimage issues much more on the 90's, where all the celebrities and people on comercials were pretty, also you didn't have normal naked people on the internet to compare to yourself, like today

i truly mean no disrespect to anyone - but the topic of why, when and where women decide to get naked has been discussed thoroughly (and obsessively) throughout OCC. How about we wait and see what happens at this event? Hopefully we'll be pleased!!

Any news on the livestream?

Not yet. I've purchased a subscription to Ekstra Bladet, as that was the one I didn't get last year, but as far as I can tell they haven't posted a link to a live stream. I have no idea how long before the race one appears, since last year I didn't jump on until hours after the event.

You mind check some of their galleries from the first day of the camps, for something interesting? They've been teasing for some nudity in titles, but most probably is underwear/bikini or men. But you never know

First two links had no nudity, just bikini/underwear, and not really all that great. The third link was just naked men.

Just to set expectations, there's good news and bad news. There isn't a lot of footage focusing on women, the camera work wasn't as up-close and personal as last year's (notably absent this year was footage of the pre-race stretching), and the video quality isn't nearly as good; but there are some great moments including naked interviews with female competitors.

You're right in one sense. We had a totally different relaxed attitude about nudity. Danes probably more than the other Nordic countries.

But it's all past tense.

The media attention probably ruined the Nøgenløbet fun.

If you go to the island camps, i.e. ølejrbevægelsen, you can still find people who swear by being naked in public, but that's more an exception to the rule. There's also naked segments of the public beaches, but again it's just small segments.

There isn't much to this first video. It's an aerial view of the race, and then a couple of reporters amongst the competitors as the winners are crowned. They manage to show barely any footage of women--however the whole project is redeemed by a lengthy interview with a very giggly, very jiggly, and very wasted female runner. In fact, after the rest of the participants are herded off the course she doubles back to have one last word.

At some point I'd love to get a translation of what she's saying.

The second video is similar, except it features a slightly better view of the race itself (but still not great). We then get a closeup of the winners, and then short interviews with a few different female runners. What's frustrating about both vids is that we get to see glimpses of a decent number of attractive women that only appear on camera for a few fleeting seconds. Hopefully there will be some better footage to come, or at least some good hi-res still photos.

Considering we have a K15 contestant (kvinde 15 = woman 15), there were maximum capacity of women in the race, and as many as the men.
