So, London has some uptake for the 10th June, Brighton and Bristol haven't announced yet that I can see :rolleyes:!? Manchester on the 9th June; Cardiff on the 8th & 15th July (wtf?!). Edinburgh on the 8th July.

Anyone know the story? Did the pandemic see off these magnificent occasions as serious events? Or is there just so much more heinous s*** to get wound up about now in the UK.

Brighton is the day after London, like usual. The 11th.

AFAIK The first UK WNBR of 2023 will be at Oxford this Sunday 4th June.

There is good news in certain respects. The weather in the UK at the moment is great, in fact perfect for a naked bike ride.

However this bike ride seems to have had little publicity, not even a Facebook page as far as I can tell. It has been run once before in 2014, a small ride of the usual middle aged over weight men with (if memory serves) one fully nude female.

Has the Deptford starting point been any good in London or would you rather recommend one of the central London ones? I haven't found any photos from Deptford, so makes me think it's a sausage fest or private area.

Heatwave predicted for next weekend in London (and Brighton)!!

I think the central ones would be more reliable. Deptford is a bit dodgy and I can't imagine ladies feeling too comfortable stripping off there!

The Deptford start looked really good last year, based on the photos of someone who was there. But they may well have been a naked participant. In my experience, no matter where you start or what you plan, it tends to come down entirely to luck as to whether you get any decent snaps or not. Last year's ride was IMHO excellent but chaotic. Trying to bring multiple starts together smoothly rarely goes to plan. Some people I kept seeing, some I saw only once or not at all.

Nice! I mean the videos are so blurry it’s hard to tell who’s wearing nude-colored underwear, but if it’s not too misleading, it looks like there was some great talent there… if we can find any clear images.

Story says that Philadelphia beat out Portland as the best city for naked bike rides. Based on participants per population, the numbers don’t nearly support that, but maybe if Philly hears about it, they’ll get it in gear and make it true, and maybe Portland will get more competitive too, so spread the word. Yes I know it’s not a fair comparison when Philly’s is in daytime and Portland’s is at night, but it doesn’t matter, because what matters is everybody getting those numbers up. :D

And if Chicago and New Orleans get mad because they’re not even mentioned, even better.

Manchester happened today..I work near the set off point so popped down..probably 150 to 200 taking part..watched them all come out single file and there was 11 fully naked women and about 6 or so topless…people taking photos beforehand , especially with 2 naked girls so I’m sure some will turn up here.

One of the best, still trying to process this in my mind and on my hard drive! Anyone else who was there have any thoughts? Blisteringly hot the turnout was incredible & the number of hottie babes was off the scale!

mixed feelings about this one. Everything suggests it should have been ideal. Highest female turnout in years (likely because of the baking weather - i saw that natasha gave an interview about it on heart radio, that may have helped too), generally it was good, but also it felt a bit lackluster; I can't really put my finger on it. Perhaps in quality. I don't think any of the decent repeat riders showed for this one. Maybe I wasn't in the right location at the right time.. I still got some decent footage. I'll upload some stills soon. I'm looking forward the professional photos to change my mind though.

There's one particular photographer, whose name is Paul Linus - he's the black dude with dreads taking shots in that fountain video that crispus shared. He's there every year, and I've personally seen him be in the perfect position for great shots on multiple occasions, yet I don't think he posts any of his photos online (apart from one used by wikipedia that links to a non-existent flickr page now. He has a goldmine I'm sure. Someone should persuade him to share.

Personally, I didn't enjoy this one at all. I found myself thinking 'why am I doing this'? more than once. The ride was a complete shambles in many respects. There was a distinct undercurrent, nothing I could really put my finger on. The fun aspect of these rides seems to have largely disappeared now. The Wellington Arch start was absolutely appalling in every way. Tower Hill was good, by all accounts. The heat was close to unbearable. I really think I'm too old for this shit now lol

. That's how I felt after covering and riding for nine years of WNBR! The fun element went and I found it harder to get good shots and 'enjoy' the ride. You are a Legend, I hope you get your mojo back, but if you are like me, everything comes to an end eventually.

London 2023 - a bit weird
 

I agree with the last 2 two comments - London this year had a weird feel to it. I started at Tower Hill which this year was packed, as I believe there was an issue at one of the other starts, but it had lost some of the atmosphere.
The ride started of broken up into lots of groups and a sprint down hill into the city!
The 2 stops had no atmosphere or fun this year. Not sure why!! I think it just seemed very rushed ??

After riding for around 10 years, I think was my last … shame 🥲
