Bandwidth limit

When i click to download a zip file I'm now getting this message:

"You have reached your allotted bandwidth limit for large files within the past 6 hours. Meanwhile, you can still view the streaming version of our videos."

I'm not trying to download videos bur zip files of photos. I've never experienced this issue in the past?

waddayasay 03-22-2022 04:04 PM

When I ought my lifetime membership said nothing about limiting downloads!

NEW Bandwidth limitation

Mods - have you put in place a permanent download limitation or is this temporary?

As noted by the last two posters, I received this notice yesterday and again today. If you have enacted a new policy it would have been great to receive notice and it would also great to know what is the max download limit and why it was enacted.

You have reached your allotted bandwidth limit for large files within the past 6 hours.
Meanwhile, if you were trying to download a video you can still view the streaming version of all of our videos.

Thanks

Unfortunately, lately more and more members have been engaging in behavior that effects our site's network performance. Those activities slow our site down and make all of our users browsing experience worse. More than 99% of our visitors are respectful people just looking to view all the great material here.

We have been forced to set reasonable limits on what each member can download within a 6 hour period of time.
The limits vary based on each member's status here.

I do want to apologize to some of the members who have seen this message. This morning we found a bug that in certain cases miscalculated the file sizes being counted toward each member's download limits. That has now been fixed. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused some of you.

Thanks for clearing it up.

Documentation of limits

Will you be documenting the "reasonable limits" placed on user accounts and what the different status tiers are based on? Is there a way for users to see what their individual usage is and to monitor it in real time somewhere? If no is that planned for a future update?

So does this limit apply to uploading content? I have no problems uploading zips, seams bandwidth isn't a problem there but twice now I've had this message when downloading zips  Again would be nice to know what the individual limits are

No. The bandwidth limits only count what each member downloads.
There are no limits on uploading material and bandwidth used to upload doesn't count against what people can download.

Paid greater bandwidth

The bandwidth limitation is pretty severe. Personally I would pay to have an 'unlimited' account, maybe that can be made available?

pokaz_cycki 04-29-2022 12:35 AM

Users with Pass has also limits?

admin 04-29-2022 08:44 AM

All users are subjected to some sort of limits to prevent people using automated software from abusing our network.
The limits are higher for contributors to the video forums and One Click Pass members.

pokaz_cycki 05-05-2022 04:43 PM

Is it possible for a limit to be assigned based on the number of thanks? Is there no chance of the old rules coming back? I never noticed the forum running slow, and I didn't save pictures to disk because I was aware that they were always on the forum. Now after clicking a dozen, if they are in a large size, there is a limit. I never tried to download them all, but it gave me mental comfort to know that I could look at any one photo, one at a time.

pokaz_cycki,
You have been a member for 7 years and made 18 posts.

If you enjoy our forums want greater access with much higher limits, please consider getting a One Click Pass.

I happily paid for a lifetime membership to this forum, but there was NO mention made at that time about any "bandwidth limits." What are the actual numbers for these limits, and why are they not made available before one pays for a membership?

admin 05-13-2022 08:36 PM

vgary,
The limits in place are very liberal. Less than 1% of our members are effected by them. Having them in place protects the majority of our members from experiencing slow responses or unresponsive pages. The limits only last 6 hours on a rolling basis. So even if someone is on an all day porn binge, they can still come back a few hours later. We put them in place for all of our members to enhance their experience here and so small select people don't try to harvest our site with badly configured automatic downloading software. It is for the greater good of our community here.

Photos too?

I just got cut off for downloading too many photos.

Are you guys broke? I have to assume that a hundred photos or so is not very much bandwidth.

dro 03-22-2023 06:21 PM

You have reached your download limit for photos. Please come back later today.

Is this new? I have never seen this while logged in. What is the limit? I would hate to see what my video limit is?

dro 03-22-2023 10:33 PM

Thanks for the redirect. I find it hard to believe I came under the one percent. Clearly wasn't using any download software. And still no access after a few hours.

Also, It seems like just opening the full size image without saving it is counting as a download. Is that the same with the video previews?

molanjaben 05-12-2023 05:51 PM

I would pay 100 more dollars for a bandwidth exemption.
