the original file is encoded in AVI(IndeoR video5 ) 96MB
I re-encoded it again in AVI(Divx5) 28MB, believe me the quality is still GOOD!!

What about using Windows Movie Maker (included with XP and free from the MS website) to convert it to WMV? It might get you down to under 10 megs without splitting and if not the program gives you the option of saving it to a specific size (ie. 10 megs). Just a suggestion. I started using it and love it (especially as it is free and I hate paying for stuff). :p

p.s. I haven't seen the clip posted here or anywhere else before.

I convert it form 96MB to 28 MB already!! I don't like some bad quality vid :mad:
The original vid is good quality and I want everyone can enjoy it too. So I don't like to compress the vid too much.

BTW, I already uploaded the vid @ OCC FTP :D :D

I want to download big files from the FTP site, I try to connet to the FTP site but when askme about my password I give my e-mail address but it doesn´t work, I can not enter.

What I´m doing wrong.

You can't download from the OCC ftp, only upload files. It is designed for files larger than 10mb that people want to share but can't because of the 10mb size limit within the forum. If Alex likes the files, he'll post 'em on the monthly homepage or (and I've only seen him do this with the Allison Williams clip) post them within active threads.

uowiS, Did you use virtualdub to re-encode the file to divx5? If so its quite easy to split into as many parts as you'd like with virtualdub. If your interested, I can make a tutorial for ya.

The video that was uploaded to the FTP server doesn't have sound either. It's the same running length, but a larger file size. So it's not worth posting again.

I don't know if a version with sound even exists.

could someone still please post the larger vid? i realize it doesn't have sound, but i assume the video quality must be significantly better. if it was compressed from a 96mb file to an 6mb file, it surely lost something.

i understand why alex didn't want to waste bandwith on the larger file back in 2004, but occ's capacity has been greatly increased since then.

This is an old swedish video and there is a larger version somewhere, but I have never found one with sound.:)

i've accepted the fact that i'll never find a version with sound. that's ok. i'm just looking for better quality, i.e. higher video resolution. plus, this version of the video is difficult to fast forward thru. so i'm looking for a version that is a larger file (not necessarily longer in terms of time). know what i mean? i'm sure a better quality version exists because someone sent it to alex a long time ago (see previous posts). he choose not to post it because there was no sound, but he didn't say if the video quality was any better.
