Can't View Gifs/Enlarged Images

I don't know if this is an intended change or not, but as of now I (as not a One Click Pass member and having not contributed as much as I should) can not view .gif files on the forums. In the past, in threads like animated ENF gifs, I could see the static image preview and then click on the image to see the animated version. Now, however, it informs me that I'm unworthy.

Either way, I'll try to contribute more to get that privilege back, but in the event the change was unintended, I hope this gets fixed soon!

Technical info: I'm using the latest version of Firefox and using AdBlock Plus, FoxClocks, GreaseMonkey (no scripts running on OCC), and Video DownloadHelper. I also tested it in the latest version of Chrome, in case one of the extensions was messing with me somehow, and had the same thing happen.

Edit: I've edited this post to mention that, as a result of this change, I can also no longer view enlarged images, just the previews in the threads themselves.

hotbeefinject 07-10-2018 03:59 PM

Ditto.

audiphile 07-10-2018 09:19 PM

seems like an intentional change to me. Either post a lot of pictures, or pay for the subscription. Seeing the animated image or full size image is basically downloading it, and now you have to be a paid subscriber for that privilege. It used to be only on attachments, but now it seems to apply to any image (animated or not) embedded in the post.

Certainly they have costs to running this site, so I guess this will help drive up paid subscriptions

stupiduk 07-10-2018 10:19 PM

I wonder why only uploaded files are considered instead of something like thanks. It is odd that spamming some pictures nobody cares about should be favored over providing links that a lot of people like.

Either way I am quite annoyed by this change and will be using this site less in the future.

JD92 07-10-2018 11:07 PM

Is there any word on a number of posts needed to regain the privilege to see the free content side of this site? I do have content including original images/video I would be able to upload but it seems silly to take the time and give away my personal content if I'm not in turn able to see others content also.

Its great that they want more contribution from all of us enjoying the content but some word on how much is required would be nice. I'm also worried that the quality of images submitted will drop due to people trying to reach whatever the requirement is.

Kestor 07-11-2018 06:41 AM

Same here. Ironically I've just started contributing in the last couple of weeks after lurking for years, and now I can't even see the image attachments I've uploaded.

Also I'm posting in Free Sites, mostly the music video threads, so I don't even know if that counts toward member contribution. I'm going through my favorites on sites like Vimeo, and things I've downloaded that fit the bill of the thread, which I think takes more time and effort than posting random pics in the amateurs section. I've been trying to reciprocate with quality posts.

I've updated my email address so that's not bouncing or anything now either.

tc88 07-11-2018 08:49 AM

The same happens to me (not member).
Is it confirmed it is a new "policy" of the forum?

DarkHollow93 07-11-2018 02:30 PM

This is bizarre.

I'm fine with a change in policy, but how about some info and/or warning? We have no idea what posting is expected for access. I am inclined to join for the year, but I am hesitant given this. I just don't get it.

openthe4thseal 07-11-2018 05:58 PM

The mods haven't been ignoring you, as we are as much in the dark about this as you, at least I am.

Hopefully the Admin will address this issue quickly so we can all figure it out.

garoux44 07-11-2018 07:40 PM

Same thing for me . I used to be able to enlarge pictures but can t do it any more. Please at least give us an answer ...

stupiduk 07-11-2018 07:50 PM

I'm now able to view images after posting one last night, so either the policy has changed or I am at the exact minimum requirement. Almost all of my thanked posts are from links so I don't think the upload requirement is very high. I'm not sure what I've posted over the years, but if anyone cares enough they could find the minimum requirements by looking through my post history.

You can see your post-count by either going to your profile page and clicking the Statistics tab, or just look at the upper right corner of one of your posts.

I just signed out and tried to view a picture full size and could not see it, so non-members still cannot view attachments.

That info isn't there for me. It's not in the upper right of my posts either.

Satho 07-12-2018 09:27 AM

Pass members

Since a couple of days now this message prompts out when trying to enlarge images.

At this time, only One Click Pass members and members who have contributed to our forums by uploading a minimal amount of attachments will have access to download files.
If you enjoy our forum, please show your support by upgrading your membership.

As I've made contributions in the past, I am wandering how many contributions I have to make to access the user sections.

Many thanks

drangledread 07-12-2018 09:33 AM

This isn't the first time this site has made a change solely with the specific intent of discouraging "lurkers" from visiting the forum. I suppose this time I should just take the hint.

Click on Find All Posts by stupiduk.

You will see every post you have ever made and a link to it.

I do not understand why you cannot see the info in the right corner. I just signed out and visited the site as a lurking non-member and I can see that info in anyone's post.

bluepandablue 07-12-2018 06:53 PM

i'm guessing forum posts don't count towards the number. wish they would tell us how many posts. I can found pictures around the web that people allow to be reposted

admin 07-12-2018 07:18 PM

This situation is only temporary for now.

It may be considered a wake up call for some members to become more active by posting more or contribute by purchasing a One Click Pass.

Honestly it is a mini fund drive so we can continue to afford to maintain this site for all of you who enjoy it.

Our IT bills and hosting costs have skyrocketed recently. Yet, we have only increased membership prices twice in the past 14 years.
When this site was first launched, it cost a few hundred dollars a month to run. Now it costs several thousand dollars a month.

I am steadfast against selling out and filling this great site with tons on popups and banner ads. I recently visited a few of the big free porn sites out there and every site had at least 4 ads per page and popups. Sometimes multiple popups on different pages. Then I clicked on some of the ads and it seemed like almost 1 out of 5 would tip my computer's virus warning.

I don't want this forum to be like that.
Please take a moment to realize the good thing we have going here.

If we were going to sell out, we should have done it years ago...

Right now our site really has only 1 paid advertisement. That's for Beaver Webcams, which I personally verified and approved. In fact the live webcams shows really are free. You only need to pay if you want to tip the performers.

So how much longer will lurkers be locked out? Maybe 12 more hours... Maybe more 72 hours. It depends on how long it takes to meet our goals to make sure we will be able to continue to pay our bills. However, you can be proactive and do something today to change things.

If you don't want to ever be bothered by interruptions again. Get yourself a Lifetime One Click Pass. You won't regret it.

If you are motivated and want to start uploading your own photos, go for it! We all want to see what you have to share. :)

You simply need to upload over 2 Megabytes of photos, .ZIP or .RAR files AND receive 20 or more "Thanks" for your post(s).
NOTE: It's based on the sum of your uploaded attachments file sizes, not the overall number of posts you have made.
Once you meet both of these minimal requirements, you will be able to download unlimited photos each day. Don't stop there. What makes the forums great are the fact that so many choose to keep contributing on a regular basis.

Today I can't see enlarged images again. I don't have a pass.
Yesterday it was ok.

As a forum admin myself I'm a little bit baffled that you now have to upload content to be able to see larger images, finding and uploading is very time consuming for the majority of members to do anyway, in addition making members upload just so they can see larger images will create a mass of duplicate images as most will upload and post the first thing they find elsewhere and that is bad for the forum, especially those that buy passes expecting to see new content.

I imagine that a vast number of members are like me and don't download images to save or post elsewhere but just click on the odd one or two to get a better view, to be fair most the attachments are large enough anyway so there is very little need to see them enlarged.

I probably log in once or twice a day at the moment just to look at a few certain topics so I don't think it worth my while buying a pass as I wouldn't see a fraction of the content here and with other commitments I don't have the time to find and upload but I do find time to thank those that do and to me that is the most important thing, giving those that do find time and effort to post a thank you so they know they are appreciated for their efforts.

Not being able to see larger scaled images won't stop be visiting and thanking but I imagine it will a vast number of others especially if we start to see duplicate images start to appear.

sith11 08-10-2018 12:19 PM

this again?

ok, I will upload some material

Death Spiral Here We Come

How to fundraise properly to account for increased server costs:

1. Add stipulation where members need to contribute in order to view attachments for free.
2. Numerous user start uploading many more pictures and files to meet the new criteria.
3. Rate of increase of server costs accelerates due to more users uploading files.
4. ???
5. Profit.

Flawless business model. There is no way this strategy could possible backfire.

Have you considered merchandising?

SKIDEE 08-11-2018 12:35 AM

best free site

This is (or at least USED TO BE) ONE OF THE BEST "FREE" sites online. It's sad that that, like other sites, we're being "forced" to spend money to get our fix

Turtle 08-11-2018 04:41 AM

It's my understanding that you don't have to pay to see the pictures.

How difficult can uploading 2mb of pictures be? You can do that in 1 or 2 posts. The 20 thanks will come with a few good posts.

It's not difficult but from my experience as a forum admin many people don't have a clue where to find images or even how to upload them.
Like I said previously there is a high risk of duplicate images going to be posted and that spoils it for everyone, already I have come across dozens of the same images posted in the same topics, and that is from the regular contributors, the amount of dupes we will see when the masses start to post god only knows.

@ Skidee

Forums like this cost money and are free to the masses because others pay through buying passes to cover hosting, domain and general running costs etc.
In 12 years you have only thanked twice so it is apparent you don't appreciate the "FREE" site and all those who contribute!!

Here is the perfect reply.

Nothing more to add.

Same thing is happening to me! I also can't view enlarged images unless I pay for a OneClickPass membership, and I can't afford to do that. I'm using Chrome.

Exactly! How many is the minimum before I can enlarge images on this forum? I have uploaded 5 different attachments today. How many more do I need to find and upload? Feel free to respond.

tc88 08-14-2018 10:34 AM

I don't understand this thing: I have to post at least 2 MB of pictures per day?

Because till 10 mins ago I could see enlarged pictures (and even download RARs and ZIPs), while now I can't anymore. Why?

Same for me, upload the pics and can see the enlarged pictures.
Next time I'm here I need to upload again new pictures. Very frustating.

And why can't I even look at my OWN UPLOADED pictures. I have to pay to look at my own uploads? That's crazy!

tc88 08-16-2018 12:19 PM

No one - admins or mods - replies so far.

openthe4thseal 08-16-2018 09:19 PM

All I can say is that this became an issue again right after I tried to access the site and got a message that the site was temporarily closed for an update.

We will all have to wait for the Admin to respond.

tc88 08-17-2018 10:13 AM

I was looking at my profile and it seems the pictures I had uploaded have been removed.

Is it possible there isn't an "alert" system which warns if a post is removed?

(this would explain why I can't see enlarged photos anymore)

Right now, there is no alert system to notify a member that his post was removed. The only way we have at this time would be to send a PM, which would take an inordinate amount of time because there are so many every day. This is just something you have to live with. Please understand that moderators only remove posts that violate the rules or that are obvious reposts.

garoux44 08-19-2018 07:21 PM

Again

One more Time not able to open pics or gifs Will this be for ever ? Please send us a pm to explain when you do do 😥

Flagg613 08-20-2018 05:31 PM

Confused

Is it 2mb of pictures in one post, 2mb of pictures in one day or 2mb pictures in total, because I think I have uploaded 2mb pictures in total and I definitely have more than 20 thanks in one post, unless I am just shy of the 2mb needed to view enlarged photos?

You should check if they deleted your post with the pictures. It happened to me.

Anyway, I am not demanding an alert system for deleted posts, I was just asking to understand how it works.
