Fremont 2017
 

Hello everybody,

I was looking around and didn't see a thread for this year's Fremont Solstice Parade. Any updates on the date/weather/prep sites/etc.???

Expectations for this year? Anything else related?

The parade is on 17 June. Weather expected to be good.

Perhaps Fremont 2017 will be a good vintage like the last years.
Painting station is very waited.
Ten of them I hope seen again this year. For different reasons but all are manifesting charm, sympathy and joke.

Some advice for first timers :

This is a very public event, and there will be a lot of cameras. So be prepared for that.
Bring a way to transport clothes to the finish at Gas Works Park. Don’t expect to return to the start.
Put on sunscreen before the paint.
Spending a little extra on makeup paints like the Ben Nye brand is worth it. But if you are using cheaper paints (acrylics are common), just make sure they are non-toxic. More advice*here.
Respect your fellow participants and look out for each other.
The ride includes lots of stopping and inching along in a big painted bike traffic jam (the world’s best kind of traffic jam). So be ready for that.
Bring a plastic bag or cover to protect your saddle (and, later, your pants) from paint.
Nude is not lewd. But seriously, don’t be lewd.
Express yourself and have fun!

There were many first-time riders this year. Adding the length of the ride made it easier and more fun. Good weather helped.

Painting up.

The attached photo made me curious. She's standing on a bench at the side of the street. Is she a participant or is she a watcher that decided to get into the spirit of the day?

Holy smokes, that woman is gorgeous. I would love to know if there are more shots of her to see....

She was a participant for sure. I've noticed her in several videos. No bike, just walking along in the parade. Perhaps she's taking a break from walking, I'm not sure. However, I love how she casually hangs out with the crowd. This is a great shot!

Continuing on a similar note, in many instances, participants will often come back after the bike portion of the parade has ended and view some of the remaining portions of parade alongside clothes participants as evidenced in the photo I'm posting. These types of photos are very rarely posted here but are amongst my favorites for sure. :D

Flickr has "safe-search" filters for images with nudity. To see the photos or the albums, you need to be logged in under a Flickr account with safe search turned off.
