Disney World wardrobe malfunction
 

I’ve visited this site many times but I’ve never posted. But a recent conversation with a friend reminded me of this incident I observed about 15 years ago. I worked in the entertainment department for a couple years at Disney World in Florida. There was one girl who played Ariel, the Little Mermaid, in the Magic Kingdom. She played the character in parades and also in a meet-and-greet area. I remember her being really nice and having the perfect face for Ariel but I also remember her for not having the right body type for the part. Her breasts were huge, and I recall fellow employees commenting about that. If they hadn’t had a shortage of qualified women for that part, she probably would never have been allowed to play it because of that. Her costume was basically a giant mermaid fin with a special top with shells to cover her boobs. Though the shells were not skimpy (this is Disney, of course, so they didn’t want much cleavage), this particular cast member filled it out nicely and I often wondered if they had to get larger shells just for her.

One of the parades I worked was the Remember the Magic Parade. This was back before 2000. My job was to stay close to that float, although I had other responsibilities. I could always see that part of the parade but I had to assist with the charactrs who were walking alongside the floats. There were also times when the floats stopped and guests could mingle with them, so I was in charge of that. One day I remember noticing about 10 minutes into the parade that the mermaid shell bra didn’t look quite right, like it was riding too low. I didn’t think much about it, and I guess neither did the coordinators who were in charge of helping Ariel if she needed anything. You can probably see where this is going.

After one parade stop, when the floats startd going again, I was maybe 100 feet from the float. Suddenly I looked up and saw that Ariel’s top had slipped. She was trying to hold it up with one hand and kept waving with the other. I had to look away and deal with a situation for a minute, and when I looked back the whole top had slipped off. She was completely topless as the float went around a corner and in front of the castle. Because she was fixed into the float and could'nt move, I guess she was unable to reach down and grab the top, which I think had fallen to the platform at her feet. I’m guessing the clasp had broken. She was trying her best to cover her breasts and not doing a very good job. I know she was humiliated and I heard people commenting and pointing in the crowd. And I saw people taking pictures. I’m sure there must be a video of it somewhere online. I know I would have taken one! I felt so sorry for her but I couldn’t help looking at her breasts, as they were enormous.

A coordinator noticed probably about 30 seconds after it happened and I think he tried to get up there to assist her, but they were unable to fix her top until the next parade stop, which was another three or four minutes. During that time she was almost totally exposed with just her arm across her boobs to try to shield herself.

A friend told me that everyone tried to not talk about that incident just so it wouldn’t embarrass the girl anymore. But he also said they made some adjustments to the costume so that wouldn’t happen again.

I'm sure that was embarrassing and out of caracture for Disney. Ariel may have lost her job because of that.
I don't know how many serveilance cameras they had back in summer of 1989 but we had a lot of fun there with my wife flashing her boobs on many rides. Even that sky ride that crosses the main area was great for her flashing. Of course it was always an accident and no one ever said anything.
Somewhere I must have VCR video and photos. Remember those large shoulder mounted VCR cameras? Damned my body was sore after days of recording. Like you, I always wonder where all the photos end up people take.
Only one time did security or the ticket takers ask my wife to change or cover up. We were there off and on many days that summer. We learned she needed to have her boobs covered at least until we were inside. After that gravity and our love to flash her boobs took over. Remember tube tops?
Yes, I remember seeing other bare boobs while on or watching some of those rides. Again gravity plays a large part in what girls are able to cover. Even girls who are shy.

That sounds awful. She must have been ready to cry from embarrasment. I know I would have. I think I remember seeing something about that or something similar on America's funniest home videos or one of those types of programs, but I'm sure it didn't show her topless. I know I remember seeing the footage of Disney characters falling down. I felt bad for laughing at that but I couldn't help it. :D

It probably was on some show like that, with editing of course. I'd be surprised if it wasn't caught on some video. As for the other guy and the flashing wife, that's just wrong on so many levels :eek: But sexy too. I remember always seeing women walking around in bikini tops and daisy dukes and wondring how they got into the park dressed like that.

I still remember going to Fantasy Land in Disney World when my children were young, and standing next to the large merry go round just behind the castle. A woman, attractive with dark hair, was riding one of the horses and her short skirt was stretched tight, showing her to be quite nude under the skirt. She was smiling broadly as she rode around and around and I am sure she felt a breeze on that lovely hairy triangle. I know I wished I had thought to take a photo.

Must have been different. Every costume I saw looks like a body stocking on top with the clam shells on top of that.

Devil, I remember a body stocking version that they used in winter. The one I remember from that day was just a one piece costume. It's possible they use a full body stocking now. Im not sure. But I do know it was a bikini-style most of the time when I worked there.

Yes, that's what I remember. And if you google it, you will also see photos from the meet and greets they used to do, and that clearly shows what I'm talking about. It could be they use the body stocking all the time now but they didn't back then. Personally I wish it had been Jasmine instead of Ariel who lost her top. I always liked her better. ;)

Sorry, that's not the actual video of it unless it happened earlier or later. But Im almost sure thats the same parade the guy was talking about. I bet someone has the naked footage with the way people carrry around cameras at DisneyWorld.

Thanks for posting that but that's not the video. It IS the parade and I think I even recognize the girl playing Ariel but it's not the same girl and there is no wardrobe malfunction. But you CAN clearly see the top is just a bikini with nothing else.

Found out there are dress codes at these places. Also found out dress codes can be altered after entering.:D

Yes there are dress codes at most theme parks and water parks but they are impossible to enforce. Try telling people to cover up when it's 95 degrees. To the last poster: should I ask which rides or if you were ever asked to cover up?

I'm guessing I was the last poster. My wife was never asked to cover up. As far as we know no one important saw her top fall down on the many rides. Often it really was an accident because of what she wore, the fact she never wore a bra, and her heavy boobs naturally followed the laws of physics and gravity. Not the laws of anti-nudity.
Those log rides and many fast moving fast direction changing rides revealed many other boobs over the years for my pleasure. Even the roller coasters in the Epcot Dome surprised us the first time, as did several of those movie theaters that turned into rides. My wife was caught unprepared for some of those rides altho over many years of small amusement parks and water parks she was used to public exposure.
She was however asked at least twice to either pull her top up, her shorts down , or change before entering one of the most popular Mouse Theme parks. After going all the way back to our car for her to change we learned for her to dress a little more conservatively yet able to make small alterations after mingling with the crowds. This first happened many years ago in Florida. I carried an old heavy shoulder mounted VCR camera back then. I still walk crooked. :D

Even if a girl were to dress conservatively, 'things' can happen. Around 1980 my wife taught at a small school in the Midwest. When they had field trips, I often went along as a volunteer chaperone. On one trip, to a many-flagged amusement park, one of the other teachers who came along was a very attractive woman of Mediterranean descent. That lady wore a white, linen-ish pantsuit that looked very professional.

Then, we wound up on the log flume ride...and we found out how transparent that white fabric became when wet. She was sitting directly across from me on the ride (and my wife was alongside me) and got soaked from midriff-down. It was very evident that she didn't shave her nether regions..:D
