I've had THAT awkward dinner conversation with my dad. It would have been worse with photos, but this was bad Staenough.
My dad was running the family business started by my grandfather (in 1899). Grandpa ran it until shortly before he died in his mid-90s, when dad took over. When my mother and siblings were killed, dad more or less withdrew from most facets of life for many years. There was a pretty good team in place, and they kept it going for a number of years without much influence from dad. It didn't make much money, but it wasn't a losing proposition. It took dad almost 15 years to fully recover from the tragedy which struck us. By that time, I was about to graduate from college. Dad told me he was just going to shut the place down and sell the land and mill.
I threw a fit, "THAT WAS GRANDPA'S LIFE, YOU CAN'T JUST CLOSE IT!" I almost grew up there, I spent my summers with grandpa after mom was killed. I know that business! I love that business. You could say I over-reacted, but I convinced him to let me try to run it. I told him the assets were not likely to go down in value if I did a rotten job. He agreed.
I was able to give direction to the operation, and profits -- and cash flow -- increased in the second year. Most of our operations were in the Pacific Northwest, but the family lived in San Diego as soon as grandpa could afford to live where the weather was nice. Our executive offices (that sounds much more pretentious than is should) were in San Diego, which is where I worked most of the time. Then our general manager in Idaho had a massive coronary. I moved up there and REALLY learned the business. I spent 4½ years in Idaho working 70 - 80 hours a week most weeks. I had a lot more to really learn than I'd thought I did, but I learned it.
My best friend in the whole wide world and Canada was a boy who moved in across the street from my parents about when I was born. He was a year older than I, but we were in the same classes in school every year. There was never any romance between us, but he did cop my cherry, and we spent years being occasional fuck buddies. When I was outa town, we spoke almost every day.
I finally had a good enough handle on the Idaho operations that I could go home, knowing I didn't need to watch things on a day to day basis. When I went up to Idaho, I rented out my house in San Diego, so I didn't have a place to stay. Oh, I could have moved back into dad's house, but what woman WANTS to move in with her dad? So Stan picked me up at the airport and I moved into his place for a while.
Stan was able to get some time off. We decided to go to Yuma and catch a San Diego Padres spring training game. We never made it to Yuma, but a few days later we were in Dallas, visiting Laurie and Gary, who were friends from our time at San Diego State. They took us to a barbecue on Saturday afternoon. After dinner, a card game broke out. A poker game. Strip poker to be specific. It was a different kind of strip poker game than I'd ever played in before. It was first and foremost a cash game. We were playing for REAL cash, enough money to make a difference. After the cash hand was settled, the person with the best hand (not necessarily the winner of the hand) got to remove a garment from one or more of the people with the worst hand. I was the first person barefooted, and I was the first person to show serious skin, and I was the first person naked, but in the end I was also the biggest cash winner!
The game lasted almost all night. I had sex with two guys, had my second time with another woman, and my first threesome. Nobody got dressed until after Sunday afternoon brunch.

I posted it on a San Diego based WWIV bulletin board, Erotic*City, several years before most of us had ever heard of what later became the World Wide Web.
The story is rather explicit. So much so that it was purloined by a porno site, who still uses it as their home page (Mama would be SO proud -- NOT). We made little attempt to change anything, other than our names, which were, of course, not Stan or Roxanne in real life. How was I supposed to know that dear old dad was a subscriber to Erotic*City?
A few days after the story was finished and appeared on Erotic*City, Stan and I had dinner with dad. Near the end of dinner, dad said, "I really liked your poker story." I though Stan was gonna die. All I wanted was for the floor to swallow me whole.
That was the most awkward conversation I ever had with my father. No other conversation even came close.
