Wiki is awesome for educating folks and putting things straight, but from street level, what every day folk in Britain see as a chav is more or less the following.
BOYS
1. Very likely to be in a tracksuit, normally Carbrini, Kappa, Nike and trainers.
2. Speaks quickly, often about himself, to the tune of "'ere man a proper swear down if e's got no tack left am
gonna proper smash iz fookin 'ed in"
3. Carries with him some kind of power drink, such as Red Bull, Fearless, or if it's dole money day a can of Foster's.
4. Sometimes accompanied by a train of girls hanging round him (more about those below).
5. Very braindead, almost no education, normally having been on the dole since the age of 12.
GIRLS
1. Attire for a female chav takes many forms, and include black Primark leggings, Converse trainers, some kind of ragged top with a fashion statement written on "like I HEART NEW YORK" and a myriad of other teen type clothing.
2. Hair varies but very often is a pony tail, high up and off at an angle, not flush down the back.
3. Speaks almost no English, words are spoken in their lowest common form, so if a chav girl were to say the word "understanding", it would come out as "nunasann". They also say "you what" a lot, sometimes due to the inability to understand English spoken at them, but also can be through an argument with another chav over who gets the last drag of the final Lambery & Butler cigarette they cadged from a bystander, or sympathiser.
4. They feel the need to be wanted, part of the group, and so are often over-done in make-up and fake jewellery.
5. Finally, underwear. This is almost always Primark range thongs or French knickers, not always with matching bra.
