I can remember over 40 years ago when ALL pinup and nude over the counter magazine photographs did not show any hair or vulva lips as they were airbrushed out.. If you were willing to pay an extra high for them, you had to ask the sexshop assistant for pagazines which showed hairy and or open pussy lips. Shaved models wee not known at that time.

Great to see the genuine thing DirtyHarry .....you will know bur a lot of the youngster wont that before the 1970s in many of the commercial magazines pubic hair was airbrushed out .....and a lot of the pics in this thread are not shaved but airbrushed......sorry guys.

It is wonderful to see these images. Some are from Health & Efficiency magazine which is a UK publication with a long history in promoting nudism.

Special tribute needs to be given to its editor in the 1960s and 70s, Leslie Bainbridge who had great foresight on the subject of shaving. Leslie was a photographer himself and insisted on models being shaved. He was a great and early promoter of pictures of shaved women and in his editorial capacity presented pictures of, and articles on, 'depilation' in nudism. The practice of shaving being accepted early among nudists owes a great deal to him. He was also very keen on circumcision and encouraged correspondence on these subjects in the magazine.

I believe the SCN, Shaved and Cut Naturists club still has a following in the UK.

I found some interesting background on why some models shaved in the 60s. British censorship laws prohibited detailed pictures of lady bits and a shaved girl was easier to airbrush into compliance. The Kamera Club site explains in the captions, but I can't post pictures since they are watermarked, copyright, and of professionals.

I remember when Mr. Skin had a magazine, rather than a website. One issue featured a British nude model from the 1950s and 60s who ended up arranging photo shoots for a number of the other models. These were R-rated rather than X-rated photo shoots, so the vagina could not be shown. The models were all shaven, of course, However, there was one shapely model who was nonetheless getting less work than the others. She had the misfortune of not have a vaginal opening that was "tucked under". Because her vagina was oriented to the front, that meant that the photographer had to spend more time carefully arranging her position to ensure that nothing "illegal" peeked out.
