Fremont Parade 2013
 

June scarcely gives you time to breath with all of the naked bikey fun going on. First there was WNBR. And in fact, those pics are still going up in threads while up in Seattle, WA they're already starting to sing a different tune. Yes, I believe I can hear it, faintly calling out to me..........


"fremont............fremont......."

"FREMONT!!!!"


So, now everyone take a deep breath and prepare yourself for ROUND TWO - The 2013 Fremont Solstice Parade!

Saturday, the 22nd is when it all takes place, and this year, if you arrive at noon, you are going to have to twiddle your thumbs for a couple of hours. Thats because they've changed the start time to 3PM. I hope to be there, camera ready, and bless the lord that this years Portland WNBR was not scheduled for the same day as it was the last two years. Also, give a tentative blessing to the lord that the weather is holding out some promise for sunshine. Its going to be tight, with systems moving in and out of Puget Sound Thurs and Sunday, but Saturday is tentatively looking to be the best day of the lot - at least partial sunshine and warm temps. Sun is even more likely given the late start time this year, so I am counting on some pics of brightly lit paint jobs for the first time in three years!!

We also have a new location for the pre ride painting party. You can google it if you are curious. I think one of the reasons for the move was the cramped space at the old Ballard Library. This is good news - painting will be indoors again, but nudes will spill out into the surrounding streets as always, and photography could be easier. They will paint from about 9AM to 2PM.

Otherwise, I don't have much more info at this point, so let the fun begin. We will have lots of OCC photogs there I assume, and when you are posting your own pics, I hope you will clearly identify that this is your own work, and in addition, a short ride description is always welcome. So take another deep breath, cross your fingers on the weather, and let the pics roll!

did I hear "party to MOSTLY sunny skies" for Seattle on Saturday? When was the last time that happened on Fremont Day?? Its enough to cause me to dream a little dream.....

......a 7-day forecast befitting a town that one to two weekends a year (gay pride weekend is the 29th), gets a little crazy and a little naked....

......a trip to the north country for ol' Klondike who NEVER likes to go up there if its not sunny but it NEVER is...

......an OCC thread filled with beautiful girls AND sunshine.

Summer is here. So for once, can we usher it in ON TIME, alone with the solstice, and NOT have to shiver in our boots for ANOTHER TWO WEEKS!!!

EDIT: I take it it could also rain on Sunday, which means that Saturday could be the ONLY day all week in which rain does not happen!

The Day.

Its about 80 here and there where lots of riders, Hundreds!!! I think this could be yet another record year for turn out. I was set up near the end of the parade route, but it got so packed with spectators I couldn't get good angles. lots of elbows and people just moving infront of me. I was pretty much standing in the parade route too. I tried to move to a better spot and no dice.

I then figured I'd head into Gasworks Park for some standing posed shots. Just as i whip out the camera, I hear some lady riders yell out, "Dude thats enough pictures!" An older gentleman was about 20 feet from they asses taking photos.

Yikes!!! "Thanks for ruining the fun..." My camera when back into the bag as the area was very nervous, I didn't hightail it, I just casually strolled along. I will say there are some spectacular ladies i didn't capture, I maybe got a fraction of a fraction of the riders.

I say scour the internet there will be some great gems this year!

It was good to be back for the first time in a couple of years. I didn't get all of the shots i wanted, but i got a few good ones to start us off with.

bjcojak, you did a terrific job and your effort and results are greatly appreciated. It sounds like you were also a stand-up guy in not harassing the riders, and instead taking the shots from a respectful distance.

This was the experience of a lifetime!!!
 

First, I just want to say thanks to all the organizers and the Tiger Brigade for all of their hard work. This. Was. Amazing!!!! I've lived in Seattle for a few years now and have wanted to do this the first time I saw it. This was my year. I gotta say, the turnout was FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC!!!! So many bodies, so much skin... and I was in the middle of it. The weather could not have been any better, and the vibe was out of this world! Unfortunately, I was too wrapped up in the energy and the moment of the event to snap any good pictures, oh, but if you could see in my mind ;) From the painting party, to the ride, to the big group photo in that small park, to Gas Works.... AMAZING. There is nothing like (literally) hanging out in a beer garden, getting my drink on with a mixture of fully, half, and sans-clothed people. No matter how good any of these pictures are, they just won't do it justice to actually having been there, riding and celebrating with all these wonderful people. And to those wondering, I'll just say that I was wearing a mask... and my frightening character has never been seen in the parade before!:p I can't wait until next year!!!!!!!!!! Now to get all this paint off....:rolleyes:
