great work, Fango - one can only guess why the photos were removed (the original link was hxxp, not http), but what's important is that you got in there in time to bring them all to us. This is awesome stuff. This looks to be a more recent dip, not the one Pennywiseguy2 covered last spring. Probably then this just happened? Do we have twice yearly NZ dips to look forward to now in the future? Something to put on the calendar ESPECIALLY due the presence of considerable ENFing now during both dips. I will check Flickr for more pics and maybe P got on this one too and hasn't posted his pics yet? One can only dream...:)

Also, Pennywiseguy covered a dip in NZ but it wasn't a world record attempt. It would be good to try and get a grasp on all of these world record attempts which have been happening quite frequently the past couple of years. The world record is 413. record dip attempts have taken place in the UK, NZ, various naturist resorts and beaches including Wreck Beach and Haulover, Seattle WNBR, where else?

Hey folks, the pictures here were taken yesterday, 2 dec 2012. I was there. Am also in one of the pictures(wont say which one) It was an attempt by one of the radio stations to break the world record for the most people skinny dipping at the same time at the same place. They had two locations, one tried on the saturday(in christchurch) and this one in Papamoa. The first event netted 226 skinnydippers, the second 299. Both fell short of the record of 413. There was incentive to partake by offering a lucky draw prize of NZ$1000. :)

From the video it looks like there were a lot of folks taking pictures, so hopefully more will show up.

Apparently, down in the free sites section is a thread which shows the world record was just broken yesterday in NZ.
Around 600 dipped this time, breaking the old record of 413.

But.......I'm sure the record will be broken again, and the problem is that each time there is an attempt, another thread goes up here. Too bad there isn't one "OFFICIAL" world record skinny dip attempt thread :) Should I start one? :)

As gatherings of naked people go, 600 is an impressive number. We're talking loads of eye appeal here, and just where are the pics? This one was posted in free sites. I'll look for others.

But this is the type of event that could use some serious promotion, and so why don't some internet savvy types host a "World record skinny dip attempt day" or something like that, coordinating attempts from around the globe? We could keep track city by city a la WNBR, and find out just which one can muster the most brave souls. As a competition it would be fun and pretty hot too..but we need more pics of them coming OUT of the water, not going in.

Anyway, it would be a nice project to take on - first, compiling all of the attempts to date and gathering them into one thread. And second - promoting and assembling pics from future attempts. There is no end in sight - 1000? 2000? I see it as a world wide competition to see who can gather the most naked people together in one place at one time. Forget the water, the dip etc - just focus on the numbers and the nakedness. Who can put the most naked bodies together for a snap shot? Let the games begin....

If we (a mod) change the title of this topic, we could use this topic as 'the' World record skinny dip attempt thread.
And if there will be in the future an attempt in the Netherlands or nearby, i volunteer to cover it for OCC. (although i think, unfortunately, it will not have much nudity unless it's also an installation by Spencer Tunick)
May be it's time for a WNSD (World Naked Skinny Dip) besides the WNBR?

I think converting this thread to an "attempt thread" is not a bad idea, but I'd also want to add perhaps some introductory text to post no 1. Alternately, I'm thinking of starting a new thread. Any input is welcome...

apparently, they were expecting up to 1000 in the water, but ended up with 506. Still - a new world record.

if you go to the Guinness site, they only list the 413 that dipped in Wales last year, not, as I had hoped, other records going back in time as they stood until they were broken.

Tunick got over 1000 to pose in the Dead Sea, there's plenty of photographic evidence, it beats me why that didn't count! If you're naked and in a large body of water, you're skinny dipping. At least in my mind.

I suppose that if a mod can change the title of this thread into a general attempt thread, they/he also could insert an introduction text into the start of this thread.

I guess the organisation didn't register the Spencer Tunick installation at Guiness World Records. So that attempt didn't count for Guiness.

A bit of backround for the latest successful attempt. There was a huge music festival held there with over 10k of people there rhythmandvines.co.nz/ . I did not know about their attempt and its only a 2hour drive from me. Would have loved to have been a part of breaking that record, I was part of the previous attempt. There was talk at the time of the previous attempt to make it an annual event. Time will tell. :)

any guys heading to this event, keep a look out for any Asian women participating.
I know not many live down that way, but there a plenty touring at the moment on the East Coast.
Some might have the guts to strip off in front of others.
I would be extremely keen on seeing any pics.

Holy crap, this is awesome! It's by the same guy who made the equally great skinny dip video from last New Year's Eve. The first 20 seconds of this one alone is priceless. Love the ENF at 1:34. What a fantastic way to end the year!

too bad there's a lot of footage of some dork with a cap who thinks he's the man by editing himself in after the event and acting like he owns the place. Without his dork behaviour, the video would have been better.

Someone should have photo for this event?

It's interesting to note that going into the ocean, they don't cover themselves, but coming back, most of them attempt to protect their modesty.

Great videos. I saved both of them onto my computer with firefox but they were to blurry to see anything when you play it back. Maybe the 3NEWS video could be saved in the lower quality setting but firefox wouldn't let me play the video or adjust those settings like I could on chrome.
