Weird Hotel Room Set-ups
 

After I posted my thread about high-rise living, it got me to think more about the hotel I was in and weird hotel rooms I have been in in the past when sharing a room with friends and such.

What weird hotel rooms situations have you seen/been part of?

I haven't done a whole lot of traveling, but there is one room which I clearly remember:

There were 5 of us sharing a hotel room in Florida. We called it a hotel, but it was sort of like rented condos, but just one large room, so think part-condo-part-hotel room.

Anyway, when we booked it, it said it slept 6. We had 5 people, so no problem. We walk into the place, and the first thing we notice is that there isn't a bathroom....everything is integrated into the room. So, you walk in from the hall and there are three king beds...to sleep 6. But, there is no bathroom. Instead, you had a wall with two sinks, TV, fridge, then next to that stuff is a single shower stall with a completely clear door! Then to the left of that is a toilet with a wood door.

So, how would 5 of us take showers without being seen (we were all prudes at this point in my life). For the first two mornings, people would leave while someone showered, or just the girls would stick around while the other girls showered etc. This got to be really dumb, so some people tried to hang long towels over the door and everyone would turn around while someone undressed to shower, but you could still see well above their knees and that didn't really work, either. So then the last two mornings, no one showered. I offered to just be normal about it and not make people leave or turn around, but then everyone teased me as being the perv, so I felt the dumbest of all. Oh, and people would get changed/dressed in the toilet part since there was a door.

It could have been a fun situation, but it turned out to be stressful and I felt like I was in junior high. No one saw anything that week, though, since people were extremely careful about it by taking extremely/annoying precautions.

We were traveling in a very remote place and went to a hotel - the desk clerk said "Oh, the Weird Room would be perfect for you guys!" A long narrow room with 7 queen beds in a row... So not somewhere you want to stay with relatives, friends if everyone is shy and reserved.

This is the only "odd" setup I can think of right off hand.

In the late 1970's two friends and I went from Malaysia to Hatyai to enjoy some hookers. Hatyai was a popular destination for Malaysians. There was a thin curtain that would only go out as far as the end of the bed, the foot of the beds were not curtained off.
