a lot of these pics show sunshine. What happened? :) Actually, I looked at the sat image the morning of the run and it looked like p-cloudy. Anyway, good news and we've got some really cute full nudes...

Thanks for the posts, everyone. Here's what I've found that hasn't already been posted.

A couple quick observations:

1. While it wasn't as overcast as expected, it looks like the temp was in the 50's again this year. So while the nudes were still out, I think it dampened a lot of casual nudity. 2008 was a great year, for example, because it was warmer. From the pics of the year it seemed like as the day went on and alcohol was consumed, tops came off. I imagine we got less of that this year.

2. As has been the trend over the past few years, there have been fewer total pics to public galleries like flickr. Sunday 4,500 pics went up, then just 800 so far today. Each year that number has been shrinking. In 2008 I couldn't keep up with the pics as they went up, then it got a little easier over the past couple years. I assume the continued growth of facebook has something to do with that.

Regarding your observations; a migration to Facebook photo albums is a worry. The photos are tiny and always look terrible.

Facebook has actually upgraded significantly. While viewing galleries they're the same old size, but there's now an option to download the original size. The compression has also been significantly improved.

I have a feeling that's what's driving the migration. The problem is that FB photos aren't searchable, and usually private as well. So they might as well not exist, as far as we're concerned.

Oh, and I did a little research. Apparently all floats are now banned, as is public consumption of alcohol. They said this last year, but apparently it was actually enforced this year. Also, non-registered participants were banned from the course. I don't know how they could enforce this last bit, but long story short I think collectively it would have a bit of a chilling effect on the revelry.

Less drunk people, less people overall, less fun = less nudity.

You mean Flickr's Golden days are numbered? this is terrible..

Have you noticed this drop off in pics with other events as well? Would it likely be effecting Fremont, for example?
I'm also wondering if a lot of naked run pics might be going to facebook, as we have noticed a drop off in productivity there too (for example, have you seen any Renn Fayre pics this year?).

I'm inclined to think that a lot of Flickr users use facebook as well. Since these sites are so different, and because Flickr photos can be made private, I don't see Flickr exactly being replaced here. But I do recognize the growing power of facebook, and think that you are probably right.

If you've already found a set by a user you like, remember to check back on it, since many are adding pictures over several days;
When you say you like a woman in a yellow hat, remember that that's the emblem of the "Bare To Breakers" crew, not all of whom have equal appeal to everyone here;
There's a smugmug user who has for the past few years assembled two sets per B2B, one with the nudes conveniently sifted out (they're typically posted several days after the event, and aren't up yet for this year, and are watermarked, so can't be posted here, but are often quite big as well as quite nice): check vader.smugmug.com/Events in case he does it again this year...

Thanks, though I must in honesty admit that there's been mention of it for the past few years in OCC B2B threads, and I can't recall whether or not I knew of it before it was posted here; I merely wanted to add the note to this year's iteration for anyone who hadn't seen or remembered it...as to other sites for Fremont or WNBR, there are sets at smugmug for those, though not sorted in so perv-friendly a way: at smugmug.com, there's a search box, enter Fremont, solstice, WNBR and/or naked bike, and select sets/galleries.

Here, another of those where additions are being made over several days, and might well repay periodic revisiting. The woman has shown up at several B2B's, Folsom Street Fair, Portland WNBR, Fremont Solstice, as well as lots of NiP posing in US and France; for those who can get past not seeing her face (with those other attributes, I think I can manage, thanks!), check at flickr for /malecution/sets/72157626729211482/ (currently at 9 pictures) or look in E&V "Butt naked in public" (perhaps, if I may be so self-serving, starting at https://forum.oneclickchicks.com/show...&postcount=293 ).

A few more. The last one is great even though it's highly unlikely they're actually naked under the towels. Simply the implication of nudity makes it kind of hot.

Yes, I think it's pretty clear it's 2011 because the girls are featured in other photos we've uncovered. Maybe the guy just added them to his 2010 set because he was too lazy to create a new set?

My thoughts are that although FB is helping to spread the awareness of these events, probably not too many pics are being posted there instead of flickr b/c flickr is still more anonymous. I know I don't want my family & friends seeing the nude pics I'm snapping. Flickr is probably losing posts b/c people know there're pervs like us posting 'em here. Hell, lately I've been posting here before flickr.

Yet the number of B2B photos on flickr is shrinking annually...

I agree that shooters won't post potentially pervy galleries on their FB, but that wasn't my point. B2B isn't a "nude event." It's a huge cultural event that happens to involve some very limited nudity. Most of the photos we've found on flickr weren't from users who specialized in naked subjects. They were a small subset of much larger galleries depicting the entire event in it's entirety. Most of our naked pics came from photographers just documenting the event, with a naked photo or two sprinkled in.

If you shoot a gallery of a naked event, you wouldn't post it on FB. But if you shot 500 photos of B2B and a handful of them contained nudity, you might post them on FB and post a couple "LOL! Crazy naked people!" comments to innoculate yourself from the assumption you were a perv.

And let's be clear about what we mean by photographer, in the case of B2B. Usually it means a participant, a party-goer. Most of the pics I found on flickr were taken by people participating in the event, most likely with a drink in one hand and a camera in the other. Again, these kind of party pics are what FB specializes in.

Conversely, I don't expect WNBR or Fremont pics to shift to FB. You're right about the perv factor. No one wants to own up on FB to the fact that they deliberately went out and set about to shooting naked people. But I think B2B, where the nude shots can be declared "accidental," this is a factor.

Two Topless Girls
 

Yes, the turnout of topless or nude women was very low. Part of the problem was a weather prediction of rain and hail. There was a shower or two, but the weather was pretty good, by San Francisco standards. As usual, there were 10 to 15 nude males for every nude or topless females. Here are a couple of topless women near the Mile 6 marker, where "official" photos are taken.

I agree with nakedhippie about Flickr still being the most popular place for these event photos. Not only is Flickr more anonymous, it's also geared towards photography. As flanker7 also mentioned, I think one of the reasons the nude turnout seemed low is because the race organizers cracked down on allowing unregistered runners without a bib number and a shoe chip, known as "bandits," on the course. This probably cut down on unregistered nude runners, and kept unregistered photographers from walking the course among the runners.

There good HD videos of the race, taken from a fixed location, by a couple of YouTube users.

Still not much, but here are a few. I threw in a few NN because these girls are hot.

This girl is probably the most photographed of B2B. She's obviously employed some double-stick tape, as I've yet to see a slip in any of the photos. Still, given that her friends are completely covered, it's a pretty daring outfit. The last photo is about as revealing as it gets. The lei has moved aside so that just the tape covers her nipples.

Actually, based on the way I uploaded them, it's the 3rd photo and not the last where you can see the tape covering her nipples...
