3D pics (anaglyphs)
1 Attachment(s)
In response to a thread for beaver close-ups I recently posted a couple of 3d pics I had taken of my wife.
Having been a fan of 3D pics for years I wondered if anyone else might be interested and have any of their own to post. I do have a few more if there is any interest. You need the old red/green glasses but they are fairly easy to source in bookshops etc. I'd love to see anyone else's if there are any........... |

There are various kinds of 3d photos - would be great to see some of the ones where you have to go x-eyed (don't have glasses!)

Excellent pictures!
Keep them coming! Here's one of my wife having fun with a friend.............. |
make your own 3d pics
It's easy to make your own -
all you need is a camera and some freely downloaded software( just search anaglyph maker) Take a picture from left eye view then another from right eye view. Load pics as directed and click 'make anaglyph'- et voila! red/green glasses often available with kidsmagazines etc. Lets see your efforts-its fun to do anyway |
A few more..........

I have recently found there is an application offered with Firefox which has the possibility of producing anaglyphs (3d pics) by selecting the option when saving pictures on Firefox.
I have tried it on a few of my own but as I am currently away from home and without any 3d(Red/green) glasses am unable to assess the effectiveness. I would love to know what others think as to whether the method works .............. |

I've now tested with red/cyan glasses and they are surprisingly good-at least for depth of vision.
Here are a few more for anyone else interested. |

Let me know what you think. First attempt at making it 3d, not sure if I got the perspective right.

Definiitely shows depth in 3D.
Don't stop there though-let's see more! |

here's loads I made in photoshop a while ago [the first four were made with an anaglyph conversion prog]. Some need Red/Blue and some need Red/Green glasses. Also the quality of the 3d varies depending on when I made them so don't expect too much :p

I discovered this old thread while looking for anaglyph images. The images in the last two posts above show excellent stereoscopic separation when viewed through red/cyan glasses. My images are all of bits of steam locomotives, so not particularly relevant here!
Has anyone anymore? They are not difficult to make of static objects, but require either a special 3D camera or a modified pair of identical cameras for moving subjects (or likely to move). Software to make them is downloadable free from the web . I would be very happy to answer any questions either here or by PM. Give it a try and open a new world of photography! |
