Fremont Solstice Parade 2022

Looks like there will be a Solstice Parade this year after a 2 year hiatus!

Just a heads up for anyone who plans on attending; this year's parade route will be shorter than years past and will finish at the Fremont Fairgrounds instead of the usual Gas Works Park.

UPDATE: The main painting party that usually happens every year before the parade at CSR Marine isn't happening this year. Instead people are planning on getting painted in various other places such as Gas Works Park.

I just thought I'd give everyone a heads up if you're planning on participating or snapping photos

The "official" ride is indeed happening this year but there are a lot changes and it's unclear how it will all work out.

The Solstice Parade itself and the Fremont Fair will both be *much* smaller than in the past. They'll be limited to the area right around the central part of Fremont (ie., no Gasworks Park presence with beer gardens, stage, etc). Also, there will be no central painting party, which was key to the growth of the ride. And the weather forecast is marginal.

Not to be a total downer, I really hope we'll see a good bounce-back in numbers :)

But as an fyi for anyone who wants to photograph the ride, the opportunities will likely be a lot more limited than in the past.

Sounds to me like the 1:00-1:25 gathering time at Gas Works is better than anything they've had in the past, no?

Hate to be the annual bearer of bad tidings but we haven’t heard from irishboy in years and years…2013? He literally just never posted again out of the blue. I fear he passed…

Cold

Weather looks pretty poor. Best we can hope for is 60 and cloudy. Hopefully no rain. We seattlites are a hardy bunch tho: I have a good feeling about the first post-Covid ride 🤞

Question

For someone who is in the area now visiting friends but didn’t bring a bike…is it possible to walk? What about renting a scooter?
