Also of potential interest to UK readers: the play "Statements After an Arrest Under the Immorality Act", by legendary South African playwright Athol Fugard, is being staged at the OraXnge TrXee TheXatre from 28th August to 2nd October this year. It will also be livestreamed on 23rd and 24th September.

This play is about the illegal relationship between a black man and a white woman in Apartheid-era South Africa, and takes place over the course of an evening as the two discuss life and love on the floor of a library, where they have just had sex. Because of the post-coital nature of the discussion, both actors are completely naked throughout the piece.

The degree of nudity that ends up being shown depends greatly on the production (there is a blanket that gets passed around and there's a lot of covering up and fumbling with clothes when they are *spoilers* discovered - you're almost invariably guaranteed some full-frontal though, as I understand it), and the stage directions explicitly call for the room to be very dimly lit (although there is harsh lighting in one lengthy scene later on) - plus no cast has been announced for it just yet. Still, this is definitely going to be a production to keep an eye out for.

However the coronavirus crisis made Holzinger aware of the flip side of this transgression. For A Divine Comedy she simultaneously positions heaven and earth in the here and now. Together with an unusual cast of stuntwomen, actresses and dancers, Holzinger explores a new spirituality of the 21st century. Three dance tutors coach the performers throughout the performance and demonstrate a Dance of Death. But is this dance not just as good as life itself? The body leads to questions about death, life and transcendence. Dance as a preparation for our own mortality. Holzinger throws up pressing questions about how we approach the end of life.

Notes: The show contains explicit scenes of violence, self-mutilation and nudity, performers smoke cigarettes on stage, and a stroboscope is used.
