Definetly not...Suzuki is a brazilian tv actress and she make a tv show about Amazon tribes (just like this) years ago.

TV5 is canadian?..french??...dont know, but is not Suzuki in there!

TV5 is a French channel, but they mainly broadcast reruns from other public French channels. So it may be a program coming from any public French channel (France 2, France 3, France 5, Arte...)

Thanks for all the interest. The snaps come from my buddy's old VHS. The language is french (from France) and definitely not Daniela Suzuki (too bad as her video quality is a lot better). I will contact my buddy to see if he can find out more info. Many times I have watched documentaries, I have so wished the hostess would strip off. I guess the non-sexual surprising nudity is why I find this show so compelling.

Yes, we definitely need more information. Best would be to have the title of the documentary, the place it was filmed (seems to be in Amazonia, the name of the tribe would be best), the name of the director, the name of the channel(s) that produced it...

Being French, I have access to lots of on-demand video channel, that are specialized on documentaries. There are also archives on most of the French TV channels, and on the INA (public archiving center for television) website.

There are also some naturist forums in France that host many old documentary about "nude tribes", but this particular one seems unknown to me.

While waiting for marina austin getting us more info I did some detective work
and went through this thread looking for tribes that resemble the ones in the
screencaps on page 12 is a pic called xingugirls the paintings they have on fit
the ones in the caps so I guess this is the xingu tribe(s) we are talking about.

Marina are you absolutly sure that the lady is french ? The Film could have been dubbed.

i believe it has to be the Xingu - Kamayurás or Kuikuro

I did contact the owner of the VHS tape and ...

As he is still using a f'n VHS player, we won't be seening an uploaded video anytime soon.

He does assure me the language is, indeed, French.

He did take some snaps (yes actual photographs of the TV screen). One shows the panel hosts of the show so if anybody with knowledge of French television recognises them, please enlighten. I have included a second snap just so people joining this thread in progress won't be left with a "WTF is that?" expression.

It's clearly old, at most the 80', maybe the 70'.

There weren't many channels in France in those years. Only TF1, Antenne 2 (often referred to as "A2"), and FR3.

The women wearing those black bottoms look out of place in that region. I notice their prized uluri, the triangular piece of bark they wear on their mons, is gone.

My remark was not about the fact that it was on a VHS, but about the decoration style of the tv set, which is very typical of what the French TV channels were using in the 70s and the 80s. It looks way too old-fashioned for the 90s IMO...

They have pubic hair. Some women pluck it out, including their eyebrows, to prevent lice and crabs from taking hold. I read about this in National Geographic several years before the internet. The hair pattern is the typical triangular shape, with varying degrees of curliness.

I've posted the first of these two pictures on a French forum that if full of specialists of 80's French TV programs... Nothing has been found for now about which program this could be from... Still, some speculation about whether the man sitting on the left of the TV set could be Michel Berger (in which case, finding who the other man is would be the key to identifying the program...).

Is there any possibility to have a sound recording of this "debate" part of the program, if a video recording isn't possible ?

Michel Berger is or was a singer songwriter and why should he participate in this tv show, but who knows ...

a few facts i found:
the first contact ever with the xingu seems to be in 1961
french tv broadcaster "France 2" financed documentaries in south america
what i believe:
the woman we search for does not look like an european, more like a brasilian-born
as a result
it could be a brazilian or south american documentary financed by france 2 and shown later on in a french tv show
there is color tv since the late 60s thus it's likely the documentary was made soonest in the 70s

we need to ask an old brasilian ;-)

I have a question that i tried looking up on the internet but could not find anything definitive - the Xingu tribal woman - They look like they all shave their fannies, just wondering - how etc. They don't own a Gillette razor and anything else would be an interesting painful adventure that you would not want to do too often - but they must do it regularly as well as there are no fuzzy ones.

I am sure someone here knows what the go is??

aye they pluck their pubic hair, which must be quite painful. Interestingly, despite that these women walk around with their fanny out all day, when they sit down they will position their crotch on the ball of their foot, so no one can see their inner labia. So perhaps it's the inside parts which they're ashamed about, and not just the whole vulva like the rest of the world.

and for those who don't know - 'fanny' means 'vagina' in british english :p :D

I read an article in the internet (sorry, I don't remember my browsing) where the author explains the sitting position. It has more to do with keeping a guard against animals going by the area. There was a video in the Travel channel about the Zo'e Indians, and the women sit in whatever position is comfortable for them. Maybe it's a custom with the Xingu tribes?

After reading your post, I did an image search for Zoe Indians and found this small photo of two women. I censored them to remove images of the babies they are holding. I was surprised that these women do not pluck their pubic hair.
