212 women so far

Thanks for keeing 'em coming, Bjcojak. Impressive output of high Q pics! And you're showing me some new women too, as I started doing a count like last year. So far, I'm up to 212 women riders. Last year, we topped out at 273 and the weather was a lot better. Anyone care to wager if this years total will beat that? I think it will be close, which is saying a lot considering how wet it was at times last Saturday.

EDIT: Here's a slightly more depressing thought: Last years Fremont thread topped out at 42 pages long. We are only up to 9 here. So like with the 2010 WNBR thread, we just don't seem to be putting the pics up like we used to. I don't think its a lack of web pics necessarily. I just don't think we have the surfer contributions here at OCC this spring. Event participation and pic taking is as strong as ever (weather problems aside). So maybe we're all getting a bit jaded....or its the economy, stupid.....

One of the interesting games you can play at Fremont is "spot the celeb". A celeb is any perennial rider, known exhibitionist, porn star, local newscaster in disguise, etc. LAst year, I found that Earth Friend Gen had slipped into the parade. Also, one year it was rumored that porn star Clair Robbins rode.

At any rate, these two riders are pretty well known. The first is a frequent naked rider up in Seattle who was well photographed at several rides last year. The second is the partner of Flickr user malecution, who shows up naked all over the northwest.

BTW - my count is up to about 240 now.

I have noticed that too. Last year we had nearly equal numbers of painting party pics, ride pics, and end of ride pics. I unfortunately didn't make it to the end of the ride to get photos. Mainly over concern that the local police would be discouraging photography at Gasworks Park. Now looking back I should have made my way to the end of the ride, but hindsight is 20/20.

I did notice the normal amounts of photogs at the parade. So I'm not sure if in the coming days we would get more photos uploaded to flickr etc. I would have figured that the Galleries would have swelled given the dismal weather Saturday and even worse weather on Sunday in the Northwest. I'm not sure, but maybe the ride has become "mainstream" and not gathering as much attention, I seemed to notice that with the Bay to Breakers, and the WNBR too.

I maybe getting to much on the soapbox, but I for one to like to cover this Ride. Its easy going, photography is encouraged and everyone knows its when and where its going to happen. I would like to think that more people would be encouraged to take photos and post them. But as my friend said "I just didn't feel right taking pictures of them as they rode by..." Seriously? Maybe that is the documentor in me, I just shoot away at what happens in front of me.

This is one of those events that definately leans towards the exhibitionist end of the public nudity spectrum. No, its not Folsom Street Fair, but everyone knows they will be photographed. How could they not know? At Hales, they gave the girls being bodypainted more privacy this year, but you still have to walk to your bike, etc. From that point on, you will be photographed. Don't like it? Choose a nightime naked ride, or Burning Man or something. Think also about how much time and effort many put into their costumes and paint jobs. HOURS are spent on them, and do you think no one wants documentation of all that beauty? Of course they do!

So.....click away. Don't be intrusive, but don't leave your camera at home...

Well i would normally post about 2 - 4 pages worth of pics as i have in the past, but unfortunately my hands are kind of tied atm.. which btw, can someone please do me a favor and zip what's been posted?, (as i did in most of last year's thread.)

Anyway, some fantastic snaps taken by both Klondike and bjcojak.
I congratulate both of you on an excellent harvest, and i'm sure i speak for everyone here.
:)

Hi Sal32 - I was just thinking about how much you had contributed to past Fremont threads, and I was kind of missing that. Hope all is well. Maybe someone can do some zips.

Getting back, though, to my conversation with Bjcojak - I was going to add that because of the weather, parking in the Fremont district on Saturday was so much easier than in previous years. I didn't head up into the thick of the crowd, but I'll bet attendance was off nearly 50%. Thats a lot fewer pics....

I concur. We really appreciate your efforts Klondike and bjcojak. Top quality. Out of interest, what lenses did you use? A 'walkaround' type, such as 17-135mm, or multiple lenses?

Anyway, I am in 'collect' mode at the moment. So far I have 1500 images in my Fremont 2010 folder; a total of 3.81GB (including your images), and I will start posting my faves in a day or so. In the meantime, these two girls are driving me crazy. Does anyone have some (more) good frontals?
