first, you guys might like to know I have lots of pics of that girl from 2010 you are debating about (whether she was a repeater or not). Either for enjoyment or confirmation, I could post them but this is a 2014 thread, not a 2010 thread.

I am not running low on pics to post but from now on they will go up slower and will be a bit heavier on topless only women or backsides, etc, or look alike pics already posted...

I have this theory - my thought was that this was a sub par year for riders, but I'm basing much of that assessment on what I found in Gaswork Park. And so my question is - how many riders heeded the early cops warning to put their clothes on before entering the park? How many did NOT stay naked after the ride but MIGHT have if that woman cop had not been there at the entrance?

I must say, I'm fairly entranced by her.

the dancing group included three women, two nude, one topless. I'll focus more on the others in this set, or on the group as a whole.

Wonder woman danced but not as provocatively as the gold girl. She was more of a ballroom type dancer :)

The topless girl didn't dance that I am aware..

Since I don't live in the area (dammit!), I can only offer my observations of others' original stuff. I am certain about two of these repeats, but not about the one comparing 2011 and 2014. She looks awful close though. If the original shots were taken by you, I hope you will pardon some cropping.

Also, I found a couple unique (to me at least) pictures of riders sitting at a stoplight. It almost looks like they are riding home like that and I was just wondering what the drivers in the cars behind them are thinking. Perhaps one of you who knows the local roads can shed some light on how proximate the intersection is to the actual route. I found these on flickr, but I honestly cannot remember what user posted them and couldn't relocate with a search.

except for the absence of a ring in one pic, I would agree the 2011 and 2014 girl is the same.

Concerning the pic taken at the stop light - this is not along the established parade route. My guess is that this was taken pre-ride and that the girls were perhaps painted at one of the smaller, undisclosed body painting parties. They then rode together through Ballard to hook up with the main group.

Or it could be post ride (actually the location looks closer to Gaswork Park). Some riders ride back to their original start point (body painting party) before putting their clothes back on.

Nudity on Fremont day along city streets apart from the parade is not uncommon!

I always get a chuckle out of the girls that arrive late :) They just quickly drop their pants wherever and slap on the paint by themselves. No time to get a real paint job. And so they missed the body painting party but still got to ride. I think they both may have ended up fully nude, but sadly I didn't pay enough attention to them as there was too much else going on.

I think we're looking at a repeat rider. These span eight years. She rode in other years too.

On the left - 2006. On the right - 2014. I remember this girl well from my own pics, and although it may be hard to see a resemblance, i think its the same girl.

I kind of sensed a younger, less experienced ride this year that was comparatively leaderless. I think that the amount of time and energy that goes into the major paint jobs and costumes could lead to a kind of burn out. Back in 2010 and 2011 it rained but it seemed that the theatrics was peaking then. I missed 2012. Last year probably did not measure up to those two years.

But it used to be until last year that there was no beer garden, bands, food venders etc. in Gaswork or at least the nudes did not stray down that far, keeping to the hill area to the west. Now when the ride ends, riders head straight into a party rather than
a comparatively empty grassy area.

All this suggests to me some newer, younger leadership and perhaps a change in emphasis from a fashion
show to a party, I don't know...But the turnout is still strong...

speaking of repeat riders, this las(this yr & 2011) hasn't missed one for some 5 yrs and usually attends all 3 events(in a month?)

I haven't seen the bottom girl posted yet, this one's from 2011 also.. I can't recall her missing one year since i've been following the event for 7-8 yrs

* Klondike that girl dancing and spreading, reminds me and looks very similar in appearance of one whilst riding raising one leg for all to view, some 4-5 yrs back

saw the first girl pre ride, but not after. Didn't see the perennial roller skater at all.

As for the girl raising her leg while riding, I recall her vividly, but can't place any of the pics right now. What year was it? I even snapped her, but can't find MY pics. Its frusturating.

I suppose there is a "niche" market for this type of pic. It does capture the girls in kind of a vulnerable moment though, and strikes me as a little sneaky...

I said this about the World naked bike ride, it looks like this is becoming less popular also. Seems like in general all these events are becoming less popular with girls.

Not sure why but I read as the economy gets worse people become more conservative, not with money but with risks in general (like riding naked)

Can't really say the economy is noticeably worse or that there has been a shift to more conservative values. Also, simple pleasures such as getting naked in public often buck the trend due to the fact that it's cheap ( I.e. affordable) entertainment vs taking trips to Europe, for example.

I don't think we're probably witnessing anything other than the usual fading of a hot trend. And is it really fading? I need more evidence. The smaller WNBR rides have always been fragile. The larger ones show gains in some locations, losses in others. One thing remains very clear to me: in both the US and UK, there is a large cadre of very enthusiastic, dedicated riders to whom these rides seem to be the highlight of their year. They will travel great distances to ride. These are the folks whom I expect will keep this tradition alive despite the economy, local politics, weather, etc.
They will ride despite massive internet exposure. They form the backbone of the largest rides, and should keep them viable for years to come as the smaller ones waste away. My only concern is that in some locations, this enthusiastic cadre appear to be predominantly gay men. But not so in portland or at fremont.

This spring I have witnessed a ton of youthful enthusiasm over getting naked in public. At collins beach, portland and Eugene wnbr, and at fremont. First timers, excitedly talking about their experience. As long as I continue to witness this, I will feel pretty secure about the future of naked biking and sunning in public

I am told that there were more riders this year and ever before. More than 1,000 people showed up. I think the trend is upward.

There may be trouble in Gasworks Park in the future as nudity is frowned up away from the parade and this year naked people were not served at the beer stations.

Meanwhile, here are a couple of horny ladies at the park.
