Pubic grooming and shaving are normal in nudist environments. Nudists equate pubic grooming to a man's personal choice of having a beard, mustache or neither. Or a woman shaving her underarms or legs. Individuals adopt different grooming styles in order to maintain and enhance their personal appearance, skincare and general hygiene. The main difference is that most textiles tend to see nudity and pubic grooming as sexual overtures because they are only exposed to those when engaging in sex.

In both the textile and nudist environments someone's pubic grooming style is only considered sexual under specific mutually agreed conditions. In normal situations a shaved pussy or penis are just grooming choices. Without previous mutual agreement, shaved genitals are not an indication of sexual desires and should not be confused as some form of implied invitation for sexual activity.
