You are correct but only for those who have paid flickr for "Pro" status to have the analytics to see traffic sources. I choose not to pay so I see an increase in flickr followers after posting here but I only know it's from here because of my postings.
What's truly annoying, however, is people who follow on flickr who do not have any photos or their own and have not chosen any favorites. That's a sign of photo "collectors" who are outside the photo sharing spirit of flickr and those people get blocked by me and many others.
