Hey, that is all curious...
Just yesterday when i left this site i checked my e-mail and saw that i had an e-mail from the French board/forum/website who is also the owner of several subdivisons-websites like nudismlife about their sites. I used the direct link from the mail and did not have to login to see all 2008 pictures. I came across even by 7 'Dallas' pics, i didn't knew there was also a ride in Dallas, one of the hometowns of the American Oilindustry.
I will post those pics in the next contribution. I also saw at least 38 interesting pics from the 2008 Brightonride, mostly new to me, so if anyone interested i will post them.
The Utrecht WNBR was unfortunately not so big with only +/-21 riders and 15 pressmen/woman at the start and some, unfortunately clothed, very nice young press-girls/students who did the ride to make a story.:)

As i said in my comment above i will post here 7 pics i came across yesterday. Those pics are from the Dallas WNBR.
It is funny that they have a WNBR in one of 'the' city's of the American oil industry. Just when oil prices are reaching all time high records day after day, it is good to use as much as possible your bike.
I go to work every day by bike. :D

Just as i came across the Dallas pics, i also found 8 pics from the Barcelona ride. I think they are no reposts, so all new, and may be Pedro is having some more?
I am also wondering if Pedro know, met or saw "Saddle Sore", his Brighton pics i get yesterday are also awesome.
Watermarked, so i can't post them here, sorry folks.
But here are the Barcelona pics:
:)

Good for Dallas. So it is no longer on my "hall of shame" list for not holding rides. On my list mainly are New York and LA. Houston, BTW, is more of an oil town than Dallas, and the day THEY hold one, i will probably flip.

Dallas is not listed on the nakedwiki site, so i would not have even thought to look for pics from there.

thanks,

Klondike

Here in the Netherlands, the tv serie "Dallas", about the Ewing family, was very populair in the '80.
Especially JR....

The rich kids from oil families sometimes grow up to be hippies and move to Austin. So that is why Austin has WNBR, nude beaches and other stuff (eeyore's birthday party). It is Texas's hippy town.

But in Dallas, owning gas guzzling Cadillacs is still a status symbol. Its lucky no riders got run over by one...:)

While it's nice to know nudismlife exceeded their bandwidth, which I've not seen happen before, only after posting WNBR pictures, my previous point about the credibility of their attributions is reinforced nicely by this most recent string. I know it's not a "Naturist Location" in the usual sense, but I'm pretty sure enough previous postings have shown up here to tip people off that the "Dallas" ride actually took place in Victoria BC: The biggest clue may well be the group shot on the steps of that government building. Since they did not get that set from OCC, maybe you're a little better off trusting them when they lift from us, though it would still help if they took the time to read the text too! As to difficulties with the site, I had a thought in the night and halfway tested it just now. Though I copied the url on my link, when I had checked them earlier, it was, as I said, from my History list, not from the link. I did the same this morning and it worked BUT it added www into the url, i.e. http://www.nudismlife.com/index.php?/category/575 which, once I post this, I will try as a link. If that doesn't work, it may mean they've blocked linking somehow. Either way, I'll edit this post after I try.
EDIT: Okay, the link did work just now (8:20am PDT); I looked at the last several pictures on p.2 of Brighton, and they sure look to me a lot like York! Ah well...

I did look carefully at the pics because no Dallas ride is listed at the WNBR main site. But your sleuthing is better than mine. At one point they ride by a park sign which is half obscured. The park sign actually says "Beacon Hill Park". Beacon Hill Park is in Victoria, BC, so you are right. Thanks for straightening us out, and I will remove my "Dallas" folder from my hard drive.

Another clue might have been the building with the oriental rooftop. Dallas doesn't really have a "Chinatown". I wondered about that too...

So.....WHERE did they get they idea it was DALLAS??

Okay, I looked at the picture with the park sign and got an idea. See the street sign there? It's at a bit of an angle, so here's another clue: on the attached map, at the bottom, the name of the street closest to the water is...

:) Yup, that's a SURE tipoff, anytime....

That park overlooks Puget Sound and in the way distance you can barely see the Olympic Mtns. But hey, you want to call it Dallas because of a street sign? The moral of this story is, the farther the pics travel on the internet, the more you have to be skeptical. Had these been posted on the "Vancouver Sun" website, not a problem.....But they weren't posted there. They were posted on a french site....:)

So Dallas can go back to being "oil city" once again...

thanks, Crispus - interesting bit of sleuthing there. In the pics it is sunny, and it is rarely sunny in Victoria. So that threw me off a bit, too...Dallas is much sunnier.
