That's pretty much true. ALL swimmers, male and females, before a big meet, "shave down" meaning all hair comes off, every single strand. They do say it gives a slight advantage.

As a serious cyclist myself, I can assure you that there is something UNsexy about a woman in a cycling outfit, even at close range. Their butts look bigger than they actually are, they're wearing padding, and their legs are usually thick. Helmets make the hair look ragged when they come off, and they're sweaty, but not in a good way.
