I think you are wasting your time. Part of the charm of these old pics is the polaroid quality and obvious signs of age. There are plenty of HQ pics here, if that's your thing.

I don't think I am. You are correct about the charm of older pics, but there are some that are so dark as to not even be able to see the subject. Where is the charm in looking at a dark blob - or a purple alien instead of a pretty lady?

I don't believe there is anything wrong with minor corrections to make the subject visible or even less like an alien. I'm not talking about major reconstructive surgery here, just minor adjustments. In both of the examples shown, the only thing done to them was opening them in a photo program and moving one slider bar.

This is the very reason I posed the question as I can see both views. It would get crazy if loads were restored and reposted but there are some that benefit from a little work to be able to appreciate them properly. I don't want to bog the threat down with chat, so for my part I'll just say I will happily adjust pics but only on request of the OP. It may be better to put them in the restored collection thread. This should keep everyone happy.

And sometimes I will colour a B&W photo just for the hell of it.

The date on the image does not fit the architecture. The type of counter-top in this image was not manufactured until the early 1980's look at the date on the image.

actually I am pretty sure that is a Wilsonart laminate counter top which was certainly around in 1967. You were probably thinking of Corian which is a newer product.
