I don't think I am. You are correct about the charm of older pics, but there are some that are so dark as to not even be able to see the subject. Where is the charm in looking at a dark blob - or a purple alien instead of a pretty lady?
I don't believe there is anything wrong with minor corrections to make the subject visible or even less like an alien. I'm not talking about major reconstructive surgery here, just minor adjustments. In both of the examples shown, the only thing done to them was opening them in a photo program and moving one slider bar.
