A few Portland pics.
Incidentally, while searching around for pics I found a comment thread about the size of the ride on bikeportland.org, which is obviously a go-to source for the WNBR. There has been a lot of talk about how it was 12,000 in 2010, then shrank to 5,000 in 2011. Apparently the 12k figure was pretty much a hoax to begin with. The figure came from one blogger associated with the Portland bike scene, who has since been discredited and ostracized from the community for other unrelated reasons. In fact, one of the persistent problems seems to be that they don't have a reliable method for counting. Regardless, apparently the police estimates put the size around 8k, which still makes it easily the biggest in the world. |
