Indira Varma's film debut
 

She certainly was. And she wasn't the only one to be caught out by a film contract or studio trickery either. For Indira Varma, back when she was first starting out in her fledgling acting career, was a naive, somewhat bashful traditional Indian girl back in the day. And it was her misfortune to be so when she was cast soon after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1995 for her first screen role. With no title to the script and somewhat vague descriptions to certain scenes, she little realized what she was letting herself in for when she happily signed up for it. But once she was under contract and filming started, she started to have doubts when the film was titled "Kama Sutra" and about a couple of weeks into filming she was informed that she would have to appear fully nude for a number of scenes. She told The Telegraph that she did not realize when she read the Kama Sutra script there would be explicit scenes in the film.

" 'It wasn't called Kama Sutra when we were filming it,' she said. 'It was untitled. And then it says in the script, they make love. When you're young and naive and stupid you don't process the idea that it will take one day with your kit off to shoot that sentence.'

She remembered phoning home crying, and her dad saying, 'Don't worry, at least there's no sex in it.'

Her father, who she'd kept in the dark about the film's content, never saw Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, she told the newspaper. "

So the young actress just had to accept she was under contract and appear nude on screen for Kama Sutra, and along the way she had to perform a number of explicit and intimate sex scenes in front of the camera that spared none of her blushes. However, before any of you begin to think this is a typical example of male trickery in order to ensnare a young novice into taking her clothes off, you might be interested to know that the film itself was written, produced and directed by a WOMAN, Mira Nair! Which goes to show that whoever it is running showbusiness, anything is fair game as long as you get the desired results - and in this case, it was Mira Nair getting Indira Varma to take her clothes off. And ironically, it was this role which the young Indira found so mortifying to do that became a huge success and gave her the first big acting break when it hit cinemas in 1996. So much so that I suspect that Indira realized that if she was going to make it big in the business, she would have to disrobe sometime in her career, as later down the line she became more comfortable having to bare all for her art. But not, I may add, when she was starting out. As usual I have added photographs of the scenes she had to do in the film - which I'm sure the young Indira would of found embarrassing. Accidental nudity
 

Two instances I remember from my youth:

First was a game show, actress DebraLee Scott’s blouse was totally unbuttoned and there a good view and nip slip.

Second was an episode of Charlie’s Angels, the Angels were escaping from a prison where they had been undercover. They were handcuffed together and as they climbed a small embankment, Farrah leaned over and her top gapped open displaying one of her boobs.

These happened in the late 70s, and were pretty well known at the time.
