I'll post rest of my low-quality photos in next winter when they look better :D

Heh...

This certainly gives a more clear meaning of the old adage, "I wish I were a women's bicycle seat."

I know I said I'd post but I've been flat out.
I do have too many photos, so it'll be in many stages I'm sure. WNBR is how I came to find this site, and it is frankly all I am interested in. I'm curious about how many of the riders feel about these sites and I have enjoyed following the pro\s and neg's of peoples opinions and posts. At first I thought this to be negative and over the past years have come to differ in opinion. Personally I'm not interested in crotch shots and close ups, I can call them 'explicit' photo's because for many simply being nude is explicit. I'm interested in the people themselves. I have been following WNBR in london for the past 3 years and heavily photographed it. I haven't shared those photos because I've been on the fence about sharing the photos, that has changed. This year I saw many faces I recognised, and many I didn't I think that all the women are incredibly brave and I follow the ride for a large part of it and bear witness to many of the things the riders face, the cheers, the shock, the laughing, the mother coving her children's eyes, the abuse shouted from cars by people 'sickened' by that behaviour, the men who can make women feel awkward and cramped and the men who don't, the photographers... it's such a mix bag. The one overwhelming thing I have discovered is the spirit and most importantly the physical act that makes doing this perhaps open some peoples eyes to body confidence, particularly in women. Nudity is nothing. It really isn't, society has turned it into a product that sells and by censorship puts it on a pedastool. Once you actually get naked and get over the preprogrammed fear of doing so... its the most natural thing. How people personally feel about it and deem it, makes for such a variety of opinions from explicit perversion, to nothing but getting naked and celebrating ourselves.
anyway, I digress. As I said I'm interested in the people so I figured today I would slowly go through many of the faces/bodies I saw and what I know and am curious about from the WNBR. I have many photos, but I'll share the ones I believe show them how spectators would have seem and I do so with total respect for just how amazing these women are. WNBR across the world would simply fade away if it was only full of men who can shed their clothes far easier.

This rider was new to me this year, I spotted her from the first point I was on the ride. Her face beamed and she had amazing hair. By the way she rode and her bike she looked very familiar with 2 wheels and she rode with a male friend/boyfriend who looked as familiar with bikes. I thought them to perhaps be dispatch riders in the city. I shot her in 3 other locations and I believe she wasn't photographed much. This would mainly be because she/they didn't ride the whole course. They seem smart, I guess they joined the ride just after is started so no waiting around with everyone at the beginning and they peeled off the ride at the stop at lincon's inn fields avoiding all the photographers at the end. I guess they did it for the experience and I'm glad they did and hope others might give it a try too.
The last picture was her leaving the ride early. Stunning.

Wow. That really is none of your business!

what do you mean? It is our business to take care of our planet and wish all the best for all on board :)

The WNBR is a political event to raise awareness!

Manchester yesterday, not a great turn-out, specially in the female side of things. Even the cute blonde kept her panties on this year:mad:

I'm sure many people didn't bother to turn up (either to take part or watch) as the weather was pretty nippy and we'd had torrential rain just three hours previous having had a showers all through the afternoon. Shame really as the weather had been very nice for the previous week or so.

Don't expect to see many (or any!) worthwhile snaps from the Canterbury WNBR - it was IMHO an unmitigated disaster. 25-30 riders. A sign (which was almost certainly unlawful) at the park entrance which read 'No photography beyond this point.' Though I'm about 98% sure that recreation ground is public land.

As if there weren't few enough women, that sign ensured there was one less. A 40-something couple who were going to take part took one look at it and said 'if we can't take a few pictures, we just won't bother,' and promptly turned around and left. As did one of the local press photographers, who I know. He shrugged and said 'if they don't want publicity, fair enough.' And also left.

There was on odd thing - I saw a woman completely naked in the park, near to the riders and I assumed one of them. And yet there was no sign of her on the ride itself.

The two antagonistic stewards from Brighton who frequently berated the snappers were there - and congratulations to them, they achieved their goal superbly. No one with a camera (save a single semi-deranged perv with a little point and shoot) took any interest in the gathering.

Not sure if there were any local riders at all. There were three women. One was about 55 and what I can only describe is vast  A quite plump woman of about the same age. And one younger woman wearing bikini bottoms. That was the extent of the female participation. I saw the ride during a later stage and no one seemed to have joined - in fact it looked like two or three might have dropped out. Two of the riders were local buskers who just started riding with the group but weren't really part of it, I don't think.

Report in a local paper previewing the event said that on Saturday 'hundreds of naked riders will stream through streets of Canterbury.' Yeah right :p

I would venture to suggest that this might well be the worst ever WNBR. It made Manchester look like Brighton 2010.

Enjoyable write up 27cows. Will point out that at least Manchester 2013 flopped because of the weather not poor organisation and stewarding. There's every chance our ride will be back bigger and better next year, Canterbury sounds like a bit of a cock up.
