Here is my answer to that...

Comic books have been on the forefront of just about every social battle fought in this country. They have very cleverly made us think harder about racism ( the mutant purge) drugs ( Green Arrow) sexism ( any tough female hero) domestic violence and sexual assault. They are just as potent a medium as any newspaper article, and more remember-able. I'll bet you can quote some story lines you read when you were a teenager from a comic book, but you could not quote a Time magazine article

When you picked up one of your old books, did you smile? I recently came across some of my old books. They were not in the best condition. They were readable, not collectable. I sent them off to my kids, for their kids to read, and to pass on to other kids when they are done with them. The way comics were meant to be.
