Hi Flanker, how did you save those last shots? I could not find a 'b' version and saving the 'm' resulted in a 'spaceball'!

Use the same cut and paste trick but instead of replacing _m with _b, in this case you just delete the entire extension so "filename_m" just becomes "filename." If you look at the filenames of the pics in my post you'll see what I mean.

The 2008 Edinburgh ride is tomorrow afternoon, but I will not be bothering with it much. Nudity will be banned by the police, male riders must cover cocks and the girls must even wear nipple covers! :mad::mad:What a waste of time from the 'spoilsport' scottish police.

Funny that both Scotland and France are the most anti this type of protest, for history buffs. perhaps this the return of the 'Auld Alliance'!!!

More pics from one of the Chicago ride's "official" photographers. I was initially disappointed with the pics from Chicago, but as you can see from these photos there were more fully nude and topless riders than was originally apparent from the first few sets.

From the youtube videos I've seen it looks like there were a lot more naked people than are represented in these pics. I think that the "official" photographers had an official policy of asking people if it was OK to take their picture, and I'm guessing the majority declined. I'm still pretty happy with this latest batch though. :)

Also, some additional info on the ride. I know it was already mentioned that the official tally was 1700, but I'm not sure if it was mentioned that it officially passed London to become the world's largest. I read the following on their yahoo group:

Incredible outcome Andrew!

Congratulations on a spectacular ride and becoming the World's
Largest WNBR event!

The London ride remained 1000 participants (also the weather forcast
was poor and the day was a cooler day, which naturally lowers the
numbers). My energies were somewhat diverted this year due to some
things that came up in my personal life and also a frustrating sudden
$600 Insurance cost that we normally don't have to pay since we're
normally allowed into national "Bike Week" (which offers public
liability insurance for free to all event organisers), but this year
they changed their approach (baulking at our nudity and aquiring the
corporate sponsor "Nokia" so their name was "Bike Week guided by
Nokia" for the first time).

Honestly, I don't know how we'd manage with 1,700. For some reason
hundreds of pervy photographers come to the ride start and behave
really disrespectfully toward riders (especially the younger female
riders). It threatens to drive away the female ridership which is
not something we welcome. For some reason this has always been a
problem in London even when the ride had 58 riders and was held at
8pm."

I do not know how you do it Flanker, but I am glad you do!! What a brilliant set of photos!!!!!!

I spent a few minutes talking to Jesse (the London WNBR organiser, he's an American BTW:eek:) and he said that because of traffic problems 1000 riders in daytime London was about all the police and the organisers can cope with. Riding at night will encourage a lot more riders, but would it make such a big impact with half a million shoppers? I think not.

I think the London WNBR/Jesse must seclude the starting and finishing area and contract Pedro as one of the only official photographers.

Also discussing placement in threads, Seattle WNBR is this Saturday: should it continue "Part II" or start off a new "Part III"? The following are from Boulder CO, where they had a swim after the ride.

I was actually asking 'cos I thought the opposite might be better. Whether because Fremont is a much more established tradition, or because notoriously nonconfrontational Seattleites are more comfortable riding naked in a controlled short-course setting (where just about everybody likes seeing them) than in a multi-mile somewhat in-your-face situation, WNBR has never been nearly as big, and indeed has appeared to dwindle since the grand 2004 start. This year, their web page indicates there will be 2 rides, so that may dilute it even more. I realize that Fremont this year included a pretty big ride to get there, but I'm afraid that'll be the exception rather than the rule. If there are more than 50 at Saturday's WNBR, I'd be surprised. Ah well, perhaps I'll be proven wrong...

This is a lovely photo, but can it be as good as it got this year in Brussels (an earlier post mentioning that ride was actually showing '07)?

How did we all miss this guy? He posted 6/18, and I went back to that date on this thread without finding his pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zkeed/a...ted/2008/06/18 which include one of the red-hatted woman for Karaban, and several of others' favorites. He posted 45, and I saved 12, which as many Flickr searchers will tell you is a very high ratio.

From his name, he may be one of the mysterious 'asian/middle eastern' photographers that swarmed around. Still not sure how I missed them though:o
