It's so great to have such wonderful contributions from you guys - gldnegle, bjcojak, willie-t.

Gldnegle - you were at the paint party or just outside? Did you go last year too? Any impressions, crowd size, this year vs last, etc?

I will start posting Wednesday. Already posted are many girls that I snapped as well. Four girls in particular stayed completely nude at gaswork until after 5pm. They were in the main area, not by the water.

Over where Gldnegle caught the girl and guy acrobatics were many other photo ops, including some skinny dipping.

I am convinced that with all the original material up so far and with me and Irish not having posted yet, this could be the best fremont thread ever. I would actually prefer that Irishboy post here but he may other plans. Do you think we could convince him to do this? Thanks again for all you efforts!

Just one caveat - each year, requests are made for pics of unpainted riders. However, this is a sensitive issue with the ride organizers and why the pre ride is now off limits to photogs without permission. So.....please enjoy the pics but also respect the riders by not being too overly eager for unpainted photos. Thanks!

The rule at the painting party is to ask permission which is usually granted.

Also, the Fremont Arts Council denied credentials to three photographers this year for bad behavior last year.

Yes, ask permission especially if the girl is unpainted or being painted. I suspect "bad behavior" was awarded to those that didn't.

I counted up my pics - 1947! Maybe the most I have ever taken. The vast majority of these are from gaswork

But I'm enjoying the pics of the bikers en route. Coming into gaswork, the lighting is spotty. The best pics I ever took for lighting and colors was actually the year that it rained. Those pics have this soft lighting effect and the paint colors just glow.

But it seems like the riders were less hung up about full coverage this year. Lots of nipples, areolas, and pussies left unpainted.

But you know, the more I look at my pics, and the pics that have already been posted here, I'm tending to conclude that this was a sub par year for riders. Maybe it's too early to tell, but numbers aside (numbers were still strong), what seems lacking so far is headliners i.e. outstanding and memorable girl groups. No waldo girls (2007) or the fab blue five from 2009. 2011 had a quartet of blue and purple girls. I know that lots more pics are out there so hopefully someone will prove me wrong. And myself, I missed those three girls taken at the top of the hill with that large group - missed them entirely. I did catch a really good portion of the riders, but nowhere in my pics do I see those three.

Anyway, I ain't complaining. But my pics are mostly of single women or two at most. I shot up to 75 or more different women fully exposed (front view, standing or walking their bikes AND fully nude), but not as many girl groups as in previous years.

I'd be interested to know if other photogs agree with this assessment.

My guess is there may be less riders than last year. Last year it just seemed like there was a huge mass of riders. I set up a little further up the parade route this year and it just seemed like they were better spread out so i could focus on what riders where coming.

I'd also agree with you there were less standouts this year, thats not a bad thing. There were a few larger groups of similarly painted riders. I think this year we had the Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Storm/Sonics, and a few World Cup themes.

What I like about it is they all look quite normal. The one thing about this parade and the nude cyclists that always gets me... I run into these people from time to time in my neighborhood, on the bus, or just out and about in the city. I don't sit there and go, "I've seen her naked!" its more of a double/triple take. I did it with the girl in my avatar. I saw her a couple of years later at the store, and I was like where do i know her from? then it hit me on my way out. I think the parade is becoming more of a hey you have to do this once event. Sure we have the repeaters, but I like the once in a lifetime shots just as much.

The Portland group
 

Klondike, I've yet to see any pics of the Portland group. Creative bunch, in past years they've done Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland themes. I know it's early but did they show this year? I think they've been riding in Fremont since 2008. Here's a group shot from last year if you aren't sure who I mean.

You know, I just noticed these. That girl was just as you described. I have one pic which I will post of her shaking her fist at me. She was off the charts, maybe drunk, but confrontational as hell. I turned and walked away, but snuck back later for more pics. All purple, none unpainted. I hope she gets over it. But I was too far away to really hear what she was saying. You liked her. I thought she was just crazy. Sassy or hostile? I wasn't about to walk up to her and ask if she would pose for me :)

Ass shots seem to be rare, especially of two of the finest parade girls of the last few years. But here is one.

A frontal shot (repost) for those who want to see what we're looking at. Just gorgeous. I've seen pics of 'butterfly' back to 2009. "Star" seems like she started in 2011.

I would love to see more of that group. Anyone?

Actually, one of those girls is a repeat from previous years. I'd still love to see more of all three! :)
