Naked breasts "have scared police"

A protest at a trade fair in Hanover which was attended by the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel resulted in widespread media attention.

Pictures of the demonstration held by a group called FEMEN were splashed across newspapers and television screens around the world.

The reason for such massive coverage was the fact that the women were topless.

Speaking to The Today programme's John Humphrys, Alexandra Shevchenko, leader of the FEMEN branch in Germany, said: "We are protesting against patriarchy, and three of its manifestations - sexual exploitation, religion and dictatorship.

"Men are using our bodies for their own aims. They are selling our bodies and using them for advertisement, sexual satisfaction and to make children.

"We understand that if we take our bodies back, our sexuality back, we will use it for our goals.

"You can see the reaction of security and police. It's just a naked breast. It's just something you can see in advertisements, but it's really scared them."

Hmmm. Police scared of breasts?

Woman Caught Walking Naked In Conservative Malacca

"Initially, I thought it was a mannequin. When we realized 'it' was a woman, we just looked away," said Kampung Chitty Cultural Association chairman K. Nadarajah, slightly red-faced.

The woman, believed to be French, in her 30s, definitely disrupted the opening of the Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry information centre yesterday morning.

Nadarajah said someone ran to the woman and gave her the flag of a political party to cover her body but she declined.

"The awkward situation brought the event to a brief halt," he said.

Trader Terrence Teng, 31, said he was stunned to see the woman walking about so calmly.

"It was a real shock to see someone in the nude like this in conservative Malacca," he said.

Security guard P. Saravanan, 39, said he reprimanded the woman but she was nonchalant about it.

"She only replied 'I am going naked to save the world. I am a naturist' and she continued walking," he said.

Neighbors of the museum say such au naturel art appreciation has been going on for years. Just last month sharp-eyed security personnel electronically shooed one woman away from a big birdy before she could pull off more than her pants.

Perhaps the first episode — confirmed by museum folk, at least — was around 1996, not so long after the four white-and-orange sculptures were set up by artists Claes Oldenburg and Coosje Van Bruggen.

“It happened right outside my office,” recalled Marc Wilson, who retired in 2010 as museum director. “Only once that I know of. It seemed to be a professional photo shoot.”

Wilson looked down from his office window to see an attractive model join the photographer near the sculpture on the south terrace.

“She stands in front of the shuttlecock and proceeds to discard her T-shirt, then her shorts and then her flip flops. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I called to my secretary that she’d better come see this, and she said, ‘Oh, my goodness, she’s buck naked.’”

Wilson is still puzzled. “I’ve never seen the pictures posted anywhere. I’m curious. What was the purpose?”

To get a thrill? The museum staff, meanwhile, clearly is anything but by these occurrences.

When a woman approached a Shuttlecock farther south on the lawn last month, possibly for a photo by an unseen accomplice, she was shocked to hear a close-by voice demand she cease and depart. Which she did, sheepishly — or was it sheep-pieceishly?

This much was confirmed by Toni Wood and Kathleen Leighton of the museum’s communications and media relations department, although a Nelson official in charge of grounds security denied awareness of any such incidents.

“Kind of bizarre,” said Leighton. “A woman removed her slacks, and she was asked to put them back, and she did. There was not another person seen. We have cameras everywhere and motion sensors and microphones near the art in case people get too close or climb on it.”

Asked about reports of other cases occurring recently, Wood batted the question back. “We have one incident. As far as people disrobing, we have no information.”

Sara Elizabeth Soto Breaks Into Home Through Pet Door, Takes Bath

A woman was arrested after she allegedly broke into a home by crawling through the pet door and sat in the homeowner's bathtub naked.

Sara Elizabeth Soto, 25, told police that she did not do anything wrong and was just in the house because she wanted to use the phone. She was arrested in Weatherford, Texas at 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

Soto was heard entering the home through the pet door in the middle of the night. When the homeowners went down the stairs to investigate, they found that the dog door was damaged.

At first, they thought an animal snuck into their home.

But then they found that Soto was lying naked in their bathtub.

They later found her black dress outside their home and brought it back to her so she could get dressed.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -

A Virginia couple was arrested for being nude on the beach after they went swimming naked in the ocean and someone stole their clothes, North Myrtle Beach police said.

The incident happened on Sunday around 2:45 am on the beach at 98 North
Ocean Blvd, police said.

"While on foot patrol near Main Street (officer) noticed (the suspects) on the beach completely nude," police wrote in a report. "When we approached the two subjects they stated they went into the ocean without any clothes on and when they returned to the beach their clothes were missing."

Jasmine Kim Walton, 21, of Potomac Falls, Va. and Kyle Martin Schnoebelen, 22, of Fairfax, Va. Were charged in the incident, police said.

Police said that after the naked pair were discovered more problems ensued.

"Ms. Walton was very uncooperative and at times argumentative when being interviewed," police said about the woman, who police say was likely drinking alcohol at some point during the evening.

"Ms. Walton's speech was severely slurred and she would not give us her name or date of birth," police wrote.

"Ms. Walton had the smell of alcoholic beverage coming from her person," police wrote in a report. "At this time we concluded that she was grossly intoxicated."

The pair were covered up with sheets and taken to jail, police said.

Walton was charged with public disorderly conduct and public nudity, police said. She got out of jail at 7:30 am Sunday after paying bail.

Schnoebelen was charged with public nudity and released from jail about 2 hours after Walton.

Grandmother Leads Family on "Mind-Blowing" Naked Stroll in Charlotte

Another witness, Charlotte resident Jill Mead, told the paper that the sight “blew [her] mind.”

As for the inspiration for their public nudity, the women gave as good a reason as any: Farley said they told police, “the Lord told them to get naked and walk down the street."
