I'm lucky to visit at least once a week a mixed saunabad/spa in my hometown and sometimes i visit an other, may be bigger, one somewhere else. I've also been in the past several times to a German spa/saunabad. :p:)

Cologne Saunas

ps. do they have nice saunabads/spas in Cologne/Köln? Regarding to your avator i suppose you are a bit familiair with Cologne/Köln.

Cologne has some of the best in Germany. Last time I was there I was in a hot bath with two separate pairs of canoodling blonde lesbians. It was like being an extra in a porn movie. Took quite a while to cool off.

It seems like I must have dreamt it looking back, and that sort of thing is the exception rather than the rule. But if you go often enough......

I feel like a commuter I go across to these spas so often. Three trips to Baden Baden last year and one to Berlin.

Friends, please be aware that "sauna tourism" is VERY frowned up- that is to say, its NOT good to go to the sauna just to "look."

If people at the sauna find out men are doing this, then they may change the rules, make it single sex etc.

It's best not to even mention sauns by name on a site like this.

Bad impression

What a way to finally break my posting duck. Apols all round - it appears to be too late to edit now, but Mods please delete the spa names if necessary.

To be clear, I go with my wife to enjoy the spas, not to gawp. But it's impossible not to see some things.

Apols again. Back to lurking for me.

Thanks for the info. I may have better asked for the info by pm, looking backwards.
In Berlin they also must have good spas. Living in the Netherlands or Germany with the possibility to visit mixed spas is so nice. And in the summer we have the nudist/FKK beaches and lakes.
I saw in the past some episodes of "Wahre Liebe" from German Vox television. Most episodes were about the FKK beaches/lakes and some were about the German sauna/spa culture.
;)

Hey!

Thats cool- no need to "lurk" - but even a mention of any specific location by name on a site like this perhaps is not a good idea. If it crops up on a search engine etc. It's just that it's the sort of thing that could, indeed, perhaps spoil these places.

On a holiday trip review site, there is a posting saying "please don't talk about our sauna like this! It is not a sex tourist attraction."

Inded, indeed, it is quite possible to see good mixed nudity - but still, best not mention places by name.

You are probably correct about public saunas.
However, we do have several million private saunas in Europe (and some are used daily).
I have to disagree with you about your arguments at least regarding private saunas.
Nobody uses towels in sauna (due to hygienic reasons).
During abnormal situations such as having foreigner present, people may use towels (for being polite).
Usually, if it is not mixed sauna, you will have a lot people (so called sauna party).
Mixed sauna party may have both men and women but usually not at the same time (depends on amount of alcohol).
Usually family or close friends have sauna together.
There is not that much moisture and heat in (non turkish) saunas.
Amount of moisture and heat depends on how often water is thrown on top of the heater.

Clues to non-candid, "fake" sauna materials:

1) Sex.

2) No towels.

3) Clear photographs (duh...moisture & heat don't allow for that).

4) Chicks sitting "criss-cross, applesauce" style for the camera.

5) Massive numbers of hot, young women (go to European countries that have "gemischte" public saunas; you'll see what I mean).

Anyway, it was a nice try by Crispus; his efforts are always appreciated.

I don't know about which country you are speaking, but in the Netherlands and Germany you are required to use a towel in the sauna, due to hygienic reasons. It's not fresh, hygienic for other people to lay or sit on someone's else sweat and it's disastrous for the wooden sauna bank. However in a Turkish steambad or hammam, you are not allowed, recomended to use a towel due to the humidity there. Those are also not build from wood but made from stone and/or plastic
