Yep, I'm with Johnny60 on this one. For most years that we have visited Cap d'Agde we have had apartments near the beachfront which has therefore involved us having to walk along the pathway near the beach when both going to and returning from Le Glamour, so about 11pm and again at about 4am ish and it is pitch black on the beach, but let me assure you that you will be far from alone. Once darkness decends and the streets get a little quieter, this is the time that the creepy desperado single males roam and it is not a pleasant experience. They follow at a distance, make no attempt to communicate, but the staring, intense following and obvious intent on sex is somewhat worrying. Other company on the beach will be the night fishermen (who incidently are genuinely there for the fishing and have usually set up stall from about 7pm, so no worries there) and there are always fully dressed guys in twos or little groups who sit on the wooden fences and chairs near the beach entrances. Why they are there and what their intent is (given they are usually young guys, just chatting.....at 4am!!!) is still not certain, but once again a little disconcerting.
Anyway, perhaps its the fear of unwelcome things happening rather than a reality, but every red flag is there, middle of the night, pitch black beach, males just wandering around or hanging out at strange hours. Will you be attacked, robbed or other?? Who knows, but me and YSL aren't going to be conducting an experiment to find out!!
As Johnny60 says, if you are a couple, there is no shortage of safe places to go and have fun.....after all, you have all day to fuck on the beach :-)
