If I recall correctly, many of us from back then posted regularly and enjoyed the results of other's efforts as they enjoyed ours. As bandwidth costs became an issue, Alex was forced to implement a pay-for-play type policy for the vid sections because they used the largest bandwidth.
Early contributors such as myself, and probaby you, were allowed free access to the OC HomeVids section for the first 6 months after it went $$$. After that, our PW's were disabled for that area, but still worked in these forums.
I could never bring myself to pay for the privilege of watching vids I had uploaded myself, along with the regular new content, so I never purchased a membership to that side. My decision was based upon principle.
For the record, I understand why Alex needed to make a part of the site $$$, I consider his 6 month grace period and continued membership to the forum side to be fair consideration for earlier and current effort. I have no complaints about how the site is managed, and I enjoy my relationships with Alex and several Mods. Particularly my crazy kindred spirit Showofzzz.
Enough of the history lesson. Go watch that blonde hottie! |
