Just to explain the whole tradition more detailed: When danish students graduate they party for like a week, with their schoolmates. The bars and clubs offers them discount on drinks, entrance etc, it's one week of drunkenness.

One, sometimes two of the days, the students from each class, go on a trip to the parents homes, one by one, to get alcohol and food, and to let the parents celebrate their kids and their classmates. They drive in these styled open antique wagons, on special permits from the police, with loud music and party for the joy of bypassers.

The students normal do the wave tradition 2 times. One where they go in the fountain in daylight, while they are on their wagon tour, often when snapped by photographers from the newspapers, and with a big audience so they keep their underwear on. And then in the night, when drunk, naked, in the ocean or in lakes. Hard to find good pictures of this. Have to rely on Instagram and spying dudes.

The reason for the different colors of hats is because there's 4 different educations that get these, but they are all high schools. Red = STX (Normal student examination), Royal blue = HHX (Higher business examination), Navy blue = HTX (Higher tech examination), Light blue = HF (Shorter higher preparation examination)

Thanks for this explanation. I've always been curious what the hats represented. It sounds similar to the graduation cap and gown that's common in the United States. Although, unfortunately, here we don't have the same rowdy graduation tradition!

I think it's just because, they know they are being filmed/taken pictures of, or when they do it in dayligt. I have done the tradition myself - at night, and there was no hiding anything from either the boys or girls.

If there was any site like Instagram, commonly used by young people, which allowed nudity, i maybe, just maybe think that we would get som few nudes from it. If you check the hashtags in the days when the tradition is being done, you can sometimes be lucky that some girls or boys in drunkness, uploading pictures that shows it all, but Instagram is normally taking it down quick, or the people behind the pictures do it themself, when they get sober.

I have been lucky to get some in the past, but i sadly lost them by mistake, when i was cleaning my harddisk.
