I don't recall the desk, but the chest is unlocked with a key that can be found behind a picture on the wall of the hallway leading to the room with the demoness.

You can "search" the desk to find Miranda's contract with Myst, promising to take on all challengers at yakyuken. Show it to her and she'll agree to play.

The desk is in the library. The description mentions locked drawers. Thanks for the other tip.

Does anybody know how to load the game? I can save it, so I assume that loading is an option.
