Yeah, I've done the same. That's why I shoot only in sunny days, otherwise the shutter time would be too long and subjects will be either blurry because of motion or noisy as hell. Obviously dslr is out of the question, it attracts too much attention. People are less afraid of small toyish camera than professional looking dslr with a massive external zoom lens. Besides, photoshop can in fact reduce noise pretty well, so I'll be shooting this kind of pictures with my trusty old small superzoom probably as long as it works.

Nice start. A DSLR does not attract too much attention if you're in a tourist area as you appear to be. Everything I've shot, Andy's shot and Jay's shot have been on DSLRs. And I think most of Spud's too. (If you don't know who Andy is, most of the best sitting upskirts on this site were taken by him.) Lenses attract much more attention than bodies. A compact zoom lens on a DSLR will not attract undue attention as there are so many of them out there these days. Behavior is much more important than camera size.

Until you decide to use a flash, you should learn how to use spot metering and exposure compensation. We don't care if the highlights on someone's thighs are a bit blown out if the panties are properly exposed. And if you have normally steady hands, focal length should about equal exposure time to avoid effects of lens shake. Adjust ISO and aperture to get there. Image stabilization will give you about another stop to play with. You should never, ever use automatic exposure mode.

If you're willing to take the risk, there's no reason to not get the technically best shots you can.

I've tried to take some pictures with my dslr there, but it immediately draws attention and people are always asking what kind of photos I take. Because here dslr almost immediately translates to a professional or at least some kind of journalist. Almost no tourists carry dslr, only small pocket cameras.

I shot with fully manual exposure, camera is absolutely too slow to capture quick situations with automatic exposure modes. And if the sun is blocked or suddenly shines and I don't have time to adjust exposure or aperture to more suitable for the situation, pictures are too dark or blown out. And only usable iso-sensitivity for my nimble superzoom is 80 or max 100.

Understand the issue. Sucks to have great opportunities missed through equipment.
Check your PM.

Yes, they're far more interesting with faces, but it's also a legal question. Even if the pictures are taken in a public place, it's prohibited to publish them if people are recognizable, which means that i have to blur them. There's a similar issue in g**gle maps street view, that's why their faces are blurred.

Well you've pretty much shot the legality thing all ready by shooting up skirts.
Many places in the US all ready have specific up skirt laws in place and they are harsh ... really harsh.
It completely overrides any other rights you have regarding taking pics in a public place. All they have to prove is the focus of you mission was to shoot women's panties and your toast.

So take care and please don't get caught. I enjoy the pics even blurred. As a safety measure in case you do get busted I hope that you don't have a single pic of anyone under 18 on your hard drive with legs spread.
That would spell big trouble .... see you on the news kind of trouble.

Thank god, I don't live in the US. But yeah, I immediately delete pictures if there's a single doubt that the subject is under 18. After all, I'm more into milfs. :D I actually can not see those people until I zoom in.

I've been saying that here for years.
You do NOT want to even TRY doing this in a Mall or a Food Court - they have security that is looking specifically for folks doing this, and if you are in a park, they also may have folks looking for you. Chances are, wherever you are, there is a security camera on you, no matter where you are.

You do not want to be caught, and have to register as an RSO, if that happens your life is OVER.
I may look, but I don't shoot, never ever never, too much to lose.
